  1. HD primus inter pares est.

Busy day at Salt Mine No. One today; we were short three people, got the work we had earlier avoided because of the holiday on Monday, and the local police department was unusually busy catching drunk drivers on Thursday. The office manager stayed until 8:30 PM and I escaped about fifteen minutes after that, but things are caught up and we are glad to have the work. Now to unbend a bit. I will be on tenterhooks waiting for Ally's news. I've run through the books I have on hand to read, and am ruminating on my next choice. I have run across several mentions of a book that sounds very interesting, but evidently it was a small private printing many years ago. It sprinkled a bit this morning, but the afternoon was fairly nice.

  3. Youtube is suggesting browser updates. I've done both Firefox and Opera. The latter pretty much imports the preferences as they were. Though I did have to go search for the tool bar that carries the cache images icon. Opera has a new turbo facility for people on dialup to increase speed to broadband levels.

  6. puddle! Welcome back! I was wondering if the electricity had frozen in your telephone line, but listener told us your monitor was indisposed.

Not raining at the moment, but looking wintry and like impending rain here.

  7. Dear HEP friends,

I hope that you all are doing well.

I am facing some challenge in my life, and know that this group is made up of some of the kindest, most caring people I know. I humbly would ask for all positive thoughts and energy you might send my way.

I'm going to try and blog about this new journey I'm on in the hopes of paying a little bit more attention to my emotions and experiences this time around than I have in the past.
Should you wish to visit it, the address is: www.breathinginhope.blogspot.com.

    With gratitude,

    tc

O:-) Glory Hallelujah! You have returned to us!!! O:-)

For the second time this week I came home from work exhausted and sick. I have a tummy virus going on, so had a lie-down (as Cat would say) before coming by the blog. Had you not been here yet, I was planning to phone you. I am much relieved to have you back among us full power again, dear friend! :* Welcome Home! ♥

  10. Hi Alan! :-)

For the elusive title, try www.abebooks.com
It's the best site I've found for finding used and out-of-print books.
Let me know how you fare.

I'll be on tenterhooks about all Ally's tests...both from last week and all the scans and such for the coming week.
Then I'll be on the rack with her that next week, as she goes through the painful antibody therapy.
    But ohhhh, if it works!
Thanks for being over here on tenterhooks with me. That's lots easier than being on tenterhooks alone.
I'll hear sometime soon, as well, on a friend's brain biopsy. Gosh, what people are going through.
What a difference it makes to know there are good people listening and caring. ♥

And on that note, I'm off to check out tc's site. XOXOXXX

    Nope, abebooks.com doesn't list it.

  12. Great title, Alan! LOL!

  13. Alan, a friend and coworker of mine is Wiccan. Shall I ask her if she knows a source for the book? I'll see her next on Tuesday.

  14. Might be harder than usual to find since it's self published. Good luck!

  15. Alan, Kelly originally self-published the book in 1978. However, it was subsequently published in 1993:

1993. Hippie Commie Beatnik Witches: A History of the Craft in California, 1967-1977. Canoga Park, CA: Art Magical Publications.

That is an intriguing book title. Although I would have taken it for humorous fiction until I looked it up.

tc: my best wishes go with you.

We had a winter storm watch from this afternoon through tomorrow afternoon, but I haven't seen any snow so far. Looks like we may have missed it.

I made my plane reservations for the July 4 trip to Pasadena (Western regional science fiction convention) today. I was amazed to discover that all the heavily discounted flights are *already* sold out and frequent flier flights are also gone. I almost wonder whether there will be any seats left at all by June.

Penny isn't coming with me on this trip. I guess she's not sentimental -- Pasadena is where we were married.

  18. Hi Puddle!

Sheesh, listener. What are we going to do with you? Please get better soon.

Gee, Bill. *grin* Guess not. Going back to the place where you were married does seem like a good thing to be sentimental over though.

TC, hugs! I'm going over now to look at your blog.

Yes, isn't it a dandy book title? And I am intrigued because I think I perceive hints in the author of elements in the zeitgeist [hey, I was there then!] that some folks who have written about Wicca/Neopaganism have not picked up on. I should point out that I minored in Asian Philosophy as an undergraduate, and finding a "new religion" that I was unfamiliar with in my backyard, as it were, is a real intellectual treat. That there is a good bit that is familiar from experience certainly doesn't do any harm. The 1993 republication was evidently by the same publisher, just with a slightly modified name, and moved from Canoga Park to Seattle (just like the author). So it is probably self-published too. Yes, listener, if your friend has any suggestions on finding the book, I should be grateful. [Be forewarned that Aidan Kelly is evidently in poor odor among some Gardnerian and similar Wiccans. cf. http://www.widdershins.org/vol8iss5/01.htm ]
