Open Thread

Going to an early service tomorrow, so I thought I'd go ahead and post a new thread before turning in tonight.

Haloscan comment thread

  1. Hi, Renee,

I've also been snowed under with work, starting in late September of 2006 (ironically, almost precisely the time I got my first Social Security check) and running until the middle of last month. We were up to 80-hr weeks in the last month before the back-to-back deadlines. But that's past now and I'm sort of half-way beginning to catch up.

I kept getting the Howard-Empowered People feedblitz all this time, even though I had no time to do more than look at what came in the feed. I was a bit surprised to see less anad less about politics in the diaries. And still more surprised to come here yesterday and today and see no comments at all. The fact that people were firing comments back and forth so rapidly used to be one of the things that discouraged my active participation. What happened?

And incidentally, the fact that ulcers are a bacterial disease does not alter the fact that chronic stress is not good for the juman body.

  2. Bill, you need to click where it says "Haloscan comment thread" to see the main conversation.

  3. I just changed the comment settings on this blog to help avoid this sort of confusion.

As far as the move away from political topics, there used to be more people writing front page posts. I "keep the lights on" here because it's important to some people, but I'm just not into writing about politics. I continue to put up nonpolitical posts on the assumption that something is better than nothing, and threads can get long and unwieldy otherwise.
