"In Vermont, your early vote will still count even if you die before Election Day. This is because Vermont allows ballots from voters who have passed away after casting their votes to be counted."
Just found this: "The 26 states that protect and count early ballots if a voter dies after voting and before Election Day are Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington state, Washington D.C., and West Virginia."
“The president and I clearly have different priorities,” Ginther said. “The president should stop trying to divide our country and focus on ending a senseless war, tariffs, and high prices on gas and everyday goods and should be a better partner with cities to remove housing costs.”
Funny that the Racist in Chief wants to honor an Italian, since well into the Twentieth Century, Italians (Wops and Dagos) were considered non whites, and in some places lower than niggers. You'd think Trump would know that, being such a high IQ person and all.
Excuse me while I go wash off the stink of all those foul words.
One on the panels I attended at Windycon yesterday was, To Live forever: The ongest Human Dream with Larry Niven. Famous author Niven never showed, so the moderator added the oldest person in the room to the panel. That was me. Do I want to live forever? Forever is a very long time, but living thousands of years would be great. Life is interesting. Some people think they would become bored, but the universe and society keeps changing and offering us new experiences. Like most of the people in the room I was a bit hesitant about being uploaded into a computer. I think it might depend on how I interacted with th external world.
Very interesting perspective, W.A.. My goodness, it's a good thing you're so adept at being on panels...what a last minute surprise! I don't need to live forever the way in body as we live as humans. But I do believe the spirit outlives the body and goes on forever. I could really get behind all my children and grands outliving me. Too late for it to be all of them, though.
Boredom is a concept I've always struggled with. There's so much to experience and learn about and think about. Thousands of years doesn't really appeal to me, but several hundred would be nice before we leave the circles of the world.
My paternal grandmother lived to 101. I'm told that on her 100th birthday there was a party for her, and when she was asked to say a few words, those words emphasized how much it sucked to still be alive at this point. That's what I tend to think of when I think of living for a very long time. If senescence ever could be prevented, or at least slowed, I'd probably have a more favorable view.
Talk about living for hundreds or thousands of years implicitly asssumes that aging has been halted. But my experience is that getting old is distinctly better than the alternative.

ReplyDeleteWhat is the policy in your state?

Glad to know that. My son and I will be putting our completed ballots in our drop box today in Ohio. Susan
DeleteYay!! I keep hearing that Ohioans are fed up and ready for change. Let's hope!
DeleteTrump is demanding that a statue of Christopher Columbus be returned to City Hall in Columbus, Ohio. Mayor Ginther released an emailed statement:

Good for Mayor Ginther. Trump cares only for creating spectacle to distract from the fact that he CANNOT GOVERN. Susan

DeleteThe cancer within the U.S. body politic is metastasizing into Canada. I've been watching this lady for a while now, and what she reports is sobering.
