    1. Thanks! Turned out most were too stuffed to eat much dessert. Next year, I think just Pumpkin and Chocolate and an Apple Crisp. The kids DEVOURED the chocolate pie, though! LOL!

    2. It was a good one, too! I used at least 4 kinds of apples: Honey Crisp, Pink Lady, Gala, & Granny Smith, layered well. I usually include some Empire apples, too, but couldn’t find any.

    3. My fave is Cherry! I mix one can of cherry pie filling with two bags of frozen dark sweet cherries.

  3. I am stuck on the horns of a dilemma. I want to participate in Buy Nothing, but at the same time I have a Christmas gift all picked out for my niece, something I know she will love. She would understand why I want to Buy Nothing, but she would not get the gift.
So what do I do? -- nordy

  4. Speaking of buying nothing, the Guardian is reporting that Americans are feeling rattled about the state of the economy.
Donald Trump has batted away question after question from reporters on concerns over higher prices, just a year after he won an election promising to bring down costs.

While the White House has tried to reduce concern, floating tariff-funded $2,000 stimulus checks and removing import levies on certain agricultural imports, many consumers remain anxious.

Preparing for the holiday season, and bracing for the spending it often demands, Guardian readers across the US expressed apprehension – and explained how they plan to spend – in this economy. Many said the higher cost of necessities, like groceries, was imposing on their ability to buy gifts for family and friends.
NPR, on the other hand, was reporting that the wealthy are spending lots of money, while everyone else is pinching pennies. -- nordy

  5. One killed and seven wounded as Russia launches another overnight attack on Kyiv

Guardian: A Russian drone and missile attack targeted Kyiv in the early hours of Saturday, killing one person and wounding seven, authorities in the Ukrainian capital said. “Enemy drones are over the city, with air defense responding,” Tymur Tkachenko, Kyiv military administration’s head, said on Telegram. “There are multiple targets on the capital’s outskirts.” The fatality was a man and a child was among the injured, he posted later.
