Those American Robin chicks fledged in the final hour before the helicopter crash. It was our first successful nest fledging of the Robins on the porch (after three failed years). Somehow it comforts me a bit that they made it while he was still alive. He knew there were 4 eggs and he scrutinised a photo of the chicks all hatched and was able to count all four in the nest. I wish I could have told him they made it. But I mostly wish he had made it.
