  1. Vancouver Islanders are already considering alternatives to buying American. [Click] Sounds reasonable to me.

It's that way all over Canada! PEI folks are always SOOOO nice and they are posting lots of Canadian flags and notes like "Buy Canadian!" DT has single-handed made us fools.

And I have a Zoom meeting tomorrow with my Newfoundland peer group. Sigh. They know it's not ME, but I am still a terribly embarrassed American.

    1. The lyrics are by Iranian singer and composer Shusha Guppy

      Weaver of words
      Who lives alone
      In fear and sorrow
      Where are the words
      To set you free
      Perhaps tomorrow
      Where is the earth
      Where is the sky
      Where is the light
      You long for
      What hope of you
      Where you are now
      Natalia Gorbanevskaja

      Inside the ward
      Naked and cruel
      Where life is stolen
      From those who try
      To stay alive
      And not be broken
      Where are the friends
      Where are the men
      Who among them
      Can defend you
      Where is the child
      You'll never see
      Natalia Gorbanevskaja

      What else there lives
      Behind the door
      That never opens
      Are you insane
      As they say you are
      Or just forsaken
      Are you still there
      Do you still care
      Or are you lost forever
      I know this song
      You'll never hear
      Natalia Gorbanevskaja

All we really need is Congress to have a backbone. If they don’t find one soon our democracy is lost. This is a coup.

  5. Trump agrees to pause tariffs on Mexico, but import taxes still in place for Canada and China

AP: Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Monday that after a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump that the planned tariffs are on hold for a month, a statement confirmed by the White House.

“Mexico will reinforce the northern border with 10,000 members of the National Guard immediately, to stop drug trafficking from Mexico to the United States, in particular fentanyl,” Sheinbaum posted on X. -- nordy

  8. What is USAID, the government agency targeted by Trump and Elon Musk?

Musk took to X on Sunday to brand USAID a “criminal organization” and called for its death. As of Sunday afternoon, the agency’s website is inaccessible.
USAID provides humanitarian and development assistance to other countries, primarily by dishing out funds to nongovernmental organizations, foreign governments and international organizations, or other U.S. agencies. Wapo

    Welcome to Dystopia.
    We are witnessing a coup.
    This is highly dangerous.

Take care of your well being and keep accessing the reservoir of peace and inner joy. This could be a time of great deepening and transformation, personally and collectively.

  10. One of my favorite "cookies" is Garibaldi biscuits, colloqially known as "fly graveyards/cemeteries," and in my family as "fly crackers." I have been boycotting Keebler products since they bought Sunshine and discontinued their version, "Sunshine Golden Raisin Biscuits." I can get UK-made ones via Amazon, but it occurred to me that there might be a Canadian producer. So sent an inquiry e-mail to a cousin in BC this morning.
