Former ‘Meet the Press’ moderator Chuck Todd exits NBC News after nearly two decades
AP: Former “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd is leaving NBC News after nearly 18 years at the network. In his memo to colleagues, Todd said the news media has much work to do in winning back the trust of consumers, “and I’m convinced the best place to start is from the bottom up” with entrepreneurship.
“National media can’t win trust back without having a robust partner locally and trying to game algorithms is no way to inform and report,” he wrote. “People are craving community and that’s something national media or the major social media companies can’t do as well as local media.” -- nordy
I stopped watching his Sunday show because it sure seemed he sold out to the conservatives...gave them plenty of air time. Maybe he was required to, but he stayed until now.
Being largely TV-free since I left home for college in 1966, I can't say as I know him from Adam. Certainly the agglomeration of media outlets by big companies has homogenized coverage, and largely eliminated local newsrooms. Back in the day, even major newspapers were local family businesses. Business jet crashes near mall in northeast Philadelphia Two on the plane, multiple fatalities on the ground...cars and house.
A twin-engine business jet has crashed in northeast Philadelphia, near the Roosevelt Mall, authorities said.
“A Learjet 55 crashed around 6:30 p.m. local time on Friday, Jan. 31, after departing from Northeast Philadelphia Airport,” the Federal Aviation Administration told CNN in a statement.
The aircraft had two people on board and was en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, the FAA said.
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro says he has spoken with the Philadelphia mayor and is offering all Commonwealth resources as the emergency response unfolds.
The city’s Office of Emergency Management said in a post on X it was working on a “major incident” near Cottman and Bustleton avenues and that roads were closed in the area.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
The plane crash comes as authorities continue their probe into Wednesday’s deadly collision about 150 miles to the northeast in the Washington, DC, area, where an American Airlines regional jet and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter collided over the Potomac River.
I'm sure I told this story here before, but I will never forget one night when I was working at the local Level One Trauma Center, I went outside to get some fresh air. There were two medevac helicopters on the (two) landing pads, and three hanging up in the air waiting their turns to land. Everything going like clockwork--- that was what we were there for. Security guards standing by to open gates and doors as the EMT's approached with the gurneys; elevator to the ER being held in place, door open. Great place to work if you could adjust to some of the things you had to see--- not everyone could, but there's nothing wrong with that. Places were found for them elsewhere in the hospital. ----Alan

Funny, my broker used that title for an article about Exchange Trade Funds…and happened to use Tesla in an example of what could go wrong. 😄
