{listener} Every. Thing. Is. Ready. for tomorrow’s celebration. Today I baked three pies, made stuffing for our big Blue Hubbard squash, made Wheatloaf (vegetarian meatloaf), prepped the carrots, potatoes, and serving dishes for all these plus snow peas. There will also be cranberry-rosemary bread, cranberry sauce, olives and pickles and a turkey breast and gravy. Oh, and some exquisite French Sauternes wine.
I am grateful to have survived doing all of that (beginning with realising I was down to two pie plates for three pies so making a last minute dash to the store)…all on 4.5 hours of sleep!! About to hit the pillow and hope to sleep better tonight.
{listener} I am immensely grateful for Will, our 5 adult children and 8 grands ages 18 to 5. I am so thankful that Eldest*Grand safely nade it home for Thanksgiving from college. There was great rejoicing in her household! I am deeply grateful for this small community of kind souls who remind me daily that I’m not alone in concern for the time and world in which we live. Companions for the Journey make all the difference! ✨💖✨
{listener} I am also grateful for those who walked among us and have passed on.
Here is a poem by puddle:
I ache for those standing in their broken bones; ache too for those who broke the bones. And for the one who counts the minutes till release. And for the one with pen in hand, recording it all. All.
We are animals, and not wise. What we have is our likenesses-- two arms, two legs, two eyes, one heart. And if that heart is gone who are we, what are we, and how do we breathe?
Trump victory not a mandate for radical change, top election forecaster says Guardian: Despite Donald Trump’s decisive victory in the presidential election, a political scientist who developed a model that correctly predicted his sweep of battleground states warns that voters have not necessarily given the president-elect a mandate to make radical changes.
In a paper released with little fanfare three weeks before the vote, Cornell University professor of government Peter Enns and his co-authors accurately forecast that Trump would win all seven swing states, based on a model they built that uses state-level presidential approval ratings and indicators of economic health.
In an interview with the Guardian, Enns said his model’s conclusions suggest voters chose Trump not because they want to see his divisive policies implemented, but rather because they were frustrated with the state of the economy during Joe Biden’s presidency. -- nordy
Yeah, and those fools were WRONG about the economy being bad!! They were just believing DT's lies. They ain't seen nothin' yet. Just wait until DT effects tariffs.
DT has no mandate, no landslide, because he got less than 50% of the vote. That means more people voted against him than for him. Unfortunately he won more votes than Harris.
The festive bird is stuffed and into the oven; ought to be ready to emerge about 2PM. Naomi's correspondent in Australia informs us that the traditional festive Christmas meal in Oz is barbecue, since it is during Summer. -----Alan
Hey! Do any of you recall when puddle used to tell us about Tanner and his cancer journey? Through puddle's Facebook page, I just had a brief conversation with Tanner's mother, Megan. As you may recall, Tanner didn't survive, so it's bittersweet. But she remembers Ally's journey too and was glad to hear an Ally update.
Ally Update: Ally is now a senior in high school, and has already been accepted, early decision, to her favourite college. It happens to be halfway between her parents' home and her medical center, so that's fortunate...especially as Ally has been having some kidney issues lately. It's all related to her extensive cancer treatments of yore. She has a third related surgery coming up, but so far so good.

I just finished watching a Frontline documentary on China. Despite all the problems, I'm still grateful I live in this country. -- nordy
