Hurricane Idalia is coming ashore in an area of marshland and swamps and low population. It has been suggested that any structure built before 1994 is liable to being destroyed, if not by the tidal surge, the wind. Idalia started out rather sluggish. Now she's rushing at 17 mph, west of the Georgia coast, heading to Charleston, SC.
CNN: Idalia made landfall earlier Wednesday on Florida’s western coast as a powerful Category 3 storm. It's the strongest hurricane to make landfall in the Big Bend region in more than 125 years, and it briefly intensified into an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane before landfall.
BBC: Idalia made landfall in near the town of Keaton Beach, in Florida's Big Bend area, at around 07:45 local time (12:45 BST) 265,000 without power.
PhD*Son has teams down there who research bird populations and habitat. He usually says a storm rearranges the marshes…which can reduce predators. At least it’s pretty much past nesting season.
I wonder how much of our legal system has been screwed up by frivolous litigators in the civil courts. The same judges hear both civil and criminal cases. When I was court watching, a dozen or more youths picked up for petty crimes would be handled by the same judge in half an hour, so he could then listen for hours to two rich people squabble over their assets in a divorce case. I have said recently that there are more than two tiers in the justice system. One is juvenile court where youths are secretly misdirected for life. Then there is small claims where poor people are stripped of their wealth, etc. Civil cases take up a whole lot of energy.

I'm going to start sending letters and postcards to DC politicians. Why are they standing silently letting DeJoy *destroy* the post office? I had my SIXTH mail fail this morning as the USPS failed to deliver a priority mail package to my son that was due today. No wonder more people are using FedEx and UPS. The Post Office is no longer trustworthy - DeJoy has seen to it. I'm not only irritated by my mail not being delivered, but also because it was Priority Mail and I paid a higher price to have it NOT DELIVERED. (Susan, who is really, really REALLY P.O'd)

Judge rules Rudy Giuliani is liable for defaming Georgia election workers Shaye Moss & Ruby Freeman [Click] Now it is just a matter of a jury deciding on the amount of damages. As memory serves me, Rudifer has his NY apartment up for sale for 6.5 megabucks; howzabout two or three megabucks each for Moss & Freeman?
