  1. Did anyone see the full pink supermoon? It was full at 10:30pmET. Wil saw it on his evening walk. By the time I looked out, it was hazed out.

    1. [sigh] I was looking forward to this month's debate as an opportunity to push forward on the issues. But in the longer run, it was inevitable.

As Bernie says, though, this wasn't a compaign, it's a movement.

    2. I have made two mistakes in my lifetime voting for candidates for high public office.

The first mistake was voting to re-elect Richard Nixon in 1972; I granted the possibility that the leopard might be able to change its spots. I was wrong. In my defense, I was young and I had a lot of company.

The second mistake was to honor Howard Dean’s request that I vote for Cruz Bustamante as Governor of California, which I very much did not want to do. That was the hardest vote I ever cast, and to this very day I feel dirty when I think of it.

Is it possible that Joe Biden might say, or even do, something calculated to attract my vote? Yes, but how could I take it seriously? Could he be as surprising as, for instance, Chester Arthur? Yes again, but no reasonable person could expect it.

I will continue my contributions to Bernie’s campaign—certainly he has bills to pay. As for voting, I suppose it will be Howie Hawkins this time around. Biden will figure (rightly so) that he has California in the bag, so he doesn’t have to do anything to attract votes in the state. As for campaign funding, he will schmooze with the moneybags as he always has. Let him. I will cast about for opportunities to be an outside agitator, and increase my continuing contribution to the local food bank.

    3. Oh...! :(

Well, it was inevitable, I suppose.

So, now I have to figure out how to change my voter registration to the Green Rainbow Party of Massachusetts, or however it is they style themselves. I feel as though some large and important part of who and what I am has suddenly been excised.

    4. Thanks for reminding me to check my voter registration, Cat. I re-registered with the Green Party on March 14th (after the California primary election) but wasn't sure I had heard back. . . . .Yep, re-registered just fine.

    5. Which further reminds met that I have’t checked the California primary results for a while. Something is messed up at the Secretary of State’s web page, but
Here are the results via WaPo. [Click] Bernie 222 delegates, Biden 169, Warren 11, Bloomberg 7, Buttigieg zero.

  8. I suppose everyone here has received Bernie's e-mail of the morning entitled “The campaign ends, the struggle continues.” I just now read it, and it is very fine indeed. If you haven't yet read it, do.

    1. Cheap at the price to get rid of such an unprofessional jerk.

My dad, retired naval captain, expressed himself of the opinion that if Motly had just fired Crosier, he might have gotten away with it. But, going to the ship and making "that speech" pretty much doomed him. Dad also expressed the closest thing to contempt I've ever heard from him for Motly. I must say, it felt good to be in accord with Dad on something for once.

    2. I don't think Motley's behavior would justify being flogged through the fleet, but a spot of keelhauling might bear consideration. Tradition and all that.

  11. Bernie was on Colbert tonight. Good interview.

Tomorrow at 5:00pm, Bernie is bringing together our Governor, Pat Leahy and Peter Welch for a phone conference call with Vermonters about the pandemic and its effect on our economy, especially small businesses. They're taking question. Let me know if you have any questions that might speak to the nation as well.
