  1. The Inverted Likability Test [Click] Voters may be less interested in whether they like a candidate than in whether the candidate would like them.

  2. Warren raised $21.2 million in 4Q 2019, a slight dip from 3Q;
Klobuchar $11.4 million, more than twice her 3Q amount.

    1. Summary of remaining Dem candidates’ 4Q fundraising:

      Sanders $34.5 million
      Buttigieg $24.7 million
      Biden $22.7 million
      Warren $21.2 million
      Yang $16.5 million
      Klobuchar $11.4 million
      Gabbard $3.4 million

The way I look at it, that means everyone but Gabbard will probably have enough money to campaign past Super Tuesday, which means that the winner will be determined by factors other than money.

    2. That comes to 134.4 megabucks for the quarter, compared to Dear Leader's measly 46 megabucks.

    3. Cool. And while we're doing the math, remember that the $46M was from far fewer donors than any of the other numbers represent.

  3. Lots of informative items at politicalwire.com [Click] this morning; too many to justify making individual links. Assassination of General Suleimani in Baghdad, Trump impeachment and trial, 2020 election.

  5. Klobuchar took money from prosecutor condemned over Central Park Five case [so have others] [Click]

Sarah Lustbader, a criminal defence attorney, said Klobuchar’s record was not “callous” or “extreme”, but that she did ramp up incarcerations in a way that was “wrongheaded and cruel”. And I note that recently she has been trying to cultivate Trump voters. Just not a nice person IMO.

    1. The decision at their annual conference last Summer to continue with the "tradition" of not permitting the ordination of LBGTIA persons and not accepting gay marriage, happened largely because there is a large African contingent which is far behind the USA in terms of social justice and awareness. It has been heartbreakingly painful for the clergy I know here in New England. But, God bless 'em, the entire New England Conference of the Methodist Church has deliberately been "in disobedience" with the wider Methodist Church, and most of them have had parish votes and set out rainbow flags and "God Loves Everyone - No Exceptions" signs. So, it seems that when the Bishops and Lay Leaders came together over the Winter, they have come to the broken hearted realisation that a split must occur. It's not just in name only. There are church buildings and property involved, and quite a few congregations will be split in two.
There is, however, life after a split ~ as those of us in the Episcopal Church know, since the Anglicans broke away from us not wanting to ordain women, and remaining opposed to the ordination of Gays and Lesbians. We'd all love to imagine that the Church can fare FAR better than the secular world. But it's only a little better. The part where it's a little better is that the split is done in a far more civil and reasonable manner than the secular world enjoys. That said, it's been harsh enough.

"The initial report indicates that the strike targeted a convoy belonging to the medical units for the Popular Mobilization Forces, near Taji Stadium in Baghdad," the PMF said in a statement."

    1. Oh, yeah. Gotta hit those ambulances and medics Ya know how dangerous they are. :P

I'm actually trying not to burst into tears. It always makes me so angry when anyone, especially the U.S. targets medical units!

  8. Okaay--weird dream alert.

We'd been conquered, and the rulers had forced us to wear caterpillar outfits (bodies only, no fuzzy legs). Anyway, we were part of the underground, and using a Volkswagen bug, had gone in to rescue Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She was sitting on my lap, and mentioned that she needed to pee, I asked the driver to find a place, but just then we hit a bump, and Ruth peed on me. Of course I woke up, expecting to have peed the bed. Hadn't. blessedly, and laughed myself back to sleep.
