Got some weeds murdered yesterday and today, and will finish the job tomorrow. Got a fair start on taxes, and repaired/serviced five of six automatic sprinkler valves (several kinda needed it after more than twenty years...) The sixth I may service or just leave along, since it seems OK. The muscles in my legs have been acting up--lower back pain and all that--but I'll get past it. A dang nuisance, though.
Root*Center*Son is in the process of buying a house. His offer was chosen over 7 others. Then the inspection turned up some big ticket items. Today the owner accepted Son's terms! So now remains the appraisal, next week.,
I slept last night on the futon cum couch in my study. Got my best night's sleep in ages and, mirabile dictu, woke up with no back pain whatsoever. Minor twinges are sneaking back throughout the day but, still, I feel better than I've felt in ages. Should sleep on the couch more often! :)
In the mail: The Case for Impeachment by Allan J. Lichtman.[Click] “Professor Lichtman has correctly predicted every Presidential election since 1984, including the election of 2016. Now, he is focusing on the 45th President of the United States, demonstrating his view that it is not a question of if President Trump will be impeached, but a question of when.“l I told him it was a mistake to shut down the Trump Tower Baku project…
They own it: A new Kaiser Health tracking poll finds that 61% of Americans believe that President Trump and Republicans in Congress are responsible for the country’s health care system, while just 31% think Democrats are responsible because they originally passed the law.

Intelligence Committee member, Rep. Joaquin Castro, talking on CNN about eventual results of the Trump/Russia probe: “I guess I would say this, that my impression is after all of this is said and done that some people end up in jail.”
Ivanka Trump To Critics: ‘I Don’t Know What It Means To Be Complicit.’ Well, after all, she isn’t a native English speaker. (Oh, she is…) And she didn’t go to college (Oh, only Georgetown and Wharton…) and might not be able to parse the etymology of the word because she is unfamiliar with any romance language (Oh, she is conversant in French…). Well, maybe the dear young thing will get an education in the meaning of the word.
It would be useful to have some semblance of a united front, designated members who could speak to specific areas.
First problem: Have you tried cat wrangling lately? It's easier than getting the Dems to agree that the sky is blue. They can't pull together to do anything, certainly not anything sensible and useful.
Second problem: Ain't nothin' gonna pre-empt The Trump Show. The people with the cameras and the microphones are as unswervingly attracted to him as moths to candle flames. Nothing is as important to them as covering, replaying and dissecting every syllable hhe utters and tweets. Even if a shadow cabinet were set up, even if its members spoke soberly and knowledgeably, decisively refuting each and every one of Trump's lies, misstatements and displays of abysmal ignorance, no one would notice. Their daily press conferences would be them talking to empty air. The one and only thing the news media care about is his ugly face and his sick-making voice. He's good for ratings. The real, grownup world isn't.
She is truly missed.
