Okay, I've turned into a full-fledged conspiracy theorist. Here's my latest.
With Putin installing a puppet and Tillerson working both with and for Russia, Tillerson who already made hostile remarks about China. Here's my imaginary scenario: Putin wants a war with China, but Putin doesn't want to start it, so he installs babyhands who installs Tillerson who insults China to the point that China begins military maneuvers in a show of strength. So babyhands and Tillerson either manufacture "reasons" to attack China or piss China off to the point where they attack us. So for Putin, mission accomplished. War with China begun and the USA takes the first and biggest hit. Then Russia can come in and "mop up". All speculation on my part, but watching their goings-on am I really far off?
I have been alarmed by the way DT drops negative comments about China, while ever making nice with the Russians. I think you have something there, Susan. It does seem to be an intention in the mix, and most likely Putin's. Let's hope China holds to its approach of not entering into a war. Doesn't help that North Korea is rattling its sabre.
Na. China wants war with no one. Never has. They hardly fought when Japan invaded them. It's always grown by being "conquered" and taking over the culture of the "winners". . . Even when the war was right on their border, they sent a few advisors and a lot of equipment. Period. (Korea, Viet Nam.
China is not going to fight. During WWII our lend/lease generals were fighting with the Chinese generals about the Japanese, whom WE wanted them to fight. IN CHINA! Their attitude was: Look, in 200 years, they Japanese will all be Chinese--why worry?
If one looks at a topgraphic map of Europe one thing is evident that has shaped Russian foreign policy for centuries, and still does. The North European Plan extends all the way through European Russia, and has NO significant natural barriers; it is a royal road for invaders, and it has not been unused. The US meddling with former Warsaw Pact nations and building up military forces there would make ANY Russian government extremely worried; it is provocative in the extreme.
Big news in US-Cuba relations! [Click] Obama ends “wet foot-dry foot” policy! The other part of the problem was the US failure to grant regular visas, as Cuba expected.

DeleteSounds all too plausible to me, Susan.

ReplyDeleteYes, but I was talking about what Russia wants, which is a whole different animal.

Oops--"North European Plan" should read "North European Plain"

Ah. Thanks for the clarification. Couldn't work that one out on my own., though I'm usually pretty good at interpretation. :)
DeleteSusan, didn't mean to be a nudnik here. Russia may well think that's the way it would unfold. That's what I don't see.
