Nickie Kitty: One Laidback Cat

  1. The young adult generation is First.

Benrie's words tonight made me feel it's over too. More his lack of certain words I was hoping to hear. =Heavy Sigh=
If so, I pass the baton. I know he's 14 years older than I, but my lifework is other than his. I pass the baton to the wonderful younger generation who will surely make the needed changes, as the older politicians die off. It will be wonderful. It will not be in time for my healthcare or my social security. But I feel a little better about what my grandchildren will receive.

  2. Back from San Diego and tired. The previous time I was down there my favorite taco/Mexican food restaurant had been bulldozed for a big building, and the same fate befell my No. 2 choice. Various comments here re previous posts, but first of all--Nickie Kitty looks like a LARGE cat!

Reforming (AKA hijacking) a political party is way easier than starting a new one from scratch, as far as I can see. And I agree with Bill that the current Democratic Party is not showing the signs of implosion that the Whigs did before their demise. But the parallels between the disintegration of the Whigs and the current GOP is downright spooky. And I would not bet on Dump Truck being the GOP nominee.

California has had the largest state Green Party; quite a few of the early members came from the Socialist Workers Party, but I don't think they have much influence these days. They have not (to this time) ever been able to elect candidates above the municipal or county levels, and few of those; they really haven't caught on. And the Dems and GOP fight like hell to destroy the Green Party. Better to vote for what you want and not get it than to vote for what you don't want and get it, though. Before writing Bernie in, be sure to check and see if the vote will be recorded and tabulated--often times it won't.

I never accepted the idea that Ralph Nader caused Gore to lose Florida--Gore did that himself.

Well, now to bed. Mind not clear.

    Dum spiro, spero.

    1. Yes, here in Ohio the person who wants to be a write-in candidate has to file a Proposal of Intent (I think is the name) 70-some odd days before the election. Otherwise the write-in will not be counted. Although, in Ohio in the claws of the Republicans I'm always doubtful that our votes are counted.

    2. I agree that Nader did not cost Gore the election. People who way that assume as a matter of course that every Nader voter would otherwise have voted for Gore. In fact, many would not have voted or would have voted third-party anyway, which would have had the same net effect.

Gore was hampered by the Clinton legacy. Which was unfortunate, but what the situation was.

  3. Just saw this on Facebook and have to share:

    I am a Bernie Supporter.
I don't care how much you try to bully me, rig the primaries, misrepresent the actions of Bernie and his supporters, destroy the Democratic Party I've supported for years, and risk handing the election to Trump.

I will never stop fighting for justice. I will never vote for a warmonger like Hillary. I will always stand up for the vulnerable.

    we will restore Democracy.

    You cannot stop us.

  4. I discovered yesterday evening that if I'd checked my email at the right time I could have watched Bernie's presentation at berniesanders.com. If the link was going to be available to everyone whether they had RSVPed or not, why did they ask people to RSVP in order to get a text message with that same link?

  5. Is anyone else being bombarded by robocalls from the Hillary Victory Fund? I had been seriously considering donated to Hillary's general election fund once the convention was past (that is, once the contribution would *officially* go to the general election rather than the primary fund), but this is turning me off.

    1. Not me, Bill. I did get one robocall several weeks ago, but am not sure who or what it was for. I think it was for some state race.

  6. I continue to think Dump Truck may not be the GOP nominee...

And what happens if weak HRC supporters stay home on the assumption that she has the election in the bag, while many Bernie supporters refrain from voting for her? Hello, President Kasich?

    1. I agree, Alan. I will be really surprised if the GOP doesn't figure out a way to run somebody else in addition to Trump if they can't get rid of Trump himself. Kasich is my governor. Believe me when I tell you, you DO NOT WANT him. I don't think Hillary will win anyway. Her campaign keeps acting as if they only have to get rid of Trump himself, but they're not considering the armies of hate-filled, bat shit crazy people who support him, hate her and will crawl through broken glass to vote against her. My brother told me that HRC has an ad out calling Trump a "misogynist" and I told my brother that Trump supporters are so freaking stupid they probably think that's some kind of massage therapy.

  7. I keep having this feeling that the turnip is going to have an explosion/implosion of some type which will make it impossible for him to run. Or maybe it's wishful thinking?

    1. The question in my mind is how Trump can run his business and the country at the same time. It's just barely conceivable that he will decide running his business is more important and bow out.

  8. I've just signed an on-line "Thank you, Bernie" card. Who sponsored this care? The DSCC. I gave them an extra $20 in appreciation for the gesture.
