Art Cart!

Here's my new Art Cart!
It's a butcher block (former) kitchen island that I bought off Craigslist for $50.
Not bad, eh? :-)    ~ listener

  1. Hi! Powerful nice art cart there, listener!

Politico: “Clinton won by a wide margin – and there was much eff-you high-fiving in the ballroom of the Sheraton New York. But Sanders’ defeat (accompanied, as always by the big crowds and even bigger torrent of online donations) was the bitterest one yet, and deepened the already yawning fault lines between the Bernie stalwarts and a Clinton team increasingly itchy to see him gone.”

“Not going to happen anytime soon, apparently: The tweet being incredulously digested at a Clinton victory party was an MSNBC report quoting Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver defiantly claiming his candidate would take the fight to the convention floor – even if Clinton secured an overwhelming lead among pledged delegates and supers.”

WARNING! DOES NOT COMPUTE! DOES NOT COMPUTE! DOES NOT COMPUTE! Perhaps the Cintonistas should read Clausewitz on siege… or wake up and realize they are on the losing side of history, regardless of whether or not she wins the nomination. What does she do if a third, or even 10% of potential Democratic voters outside the Confederacy go fishin’ on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November? Hmmmm?

I wrote this in the departure lounge in San Diego, but then had to get on the plane before I could send it. At home now.

P.S.: Writing in Bernie in the general election sounds pretty good, but I am pretty sure California (as well as many other states) will only count the votes for *registered* write-in candidates.

    1. I think the point is that you are really voting for delegates to the Electoral College. If there are no Electoral College delegates pledged to your candidate ...

Of course, if you simply want to be able to say you cast a protest vote, that doesn't matter.

  2. David Frum prognostications [Click] I don't generally cotton to David Frum's take on things, but he has here some interesting ideas about what the Dems might do in 2017-2021. And by inference a good reason for Bernie to keep on fighting all the way to the convention.

SuperPACs and billionaires are bankrolling our elections, and as a result, most Americans have virtually no influence in our political system—a damning state of affairs for the world’s oldest surviving democracy. Oh, and by the way:

“The barbarous custom of having men beaten who are suspected of having important secrets to reveal must be abolished. It has always been recognized that this way of interrogating men, by putting them to torture, produces nothing worthwhile.”

  4. I think I've always pretty much felt that torture had more to do with the torturer's proclivities than with any actual information produced. It's a nice cover for those who wish to hurt others, no more.

    1. Absolutely agree, puddle! The animalistic, sadistic and sexual torture inflicted on those in Guantanamo especially I always believed were carried out for the gratification of the torturers. They did it because they liked it and not because they were trying to achieve anything.

    2. Fair enough, certainly. I thought it was interesting to find a prominent historical figure who made the same argument the dopes of today reject.

    3. Agree, Alan! And that it was Napoleon! Going to have adjust my approval dial upwards for the man. . . .

Interestingly, my brother, the Secret Service Man said once that a cup of coffee and a cigarette were more useful as far as he could see.
