Yellows

  1. Howard is still first, but I'll be throwing some shade his way if he's supporting Hillary the Corporate Democrat.

Last is my neighbor who lives his entire life for the appearance of his lawn. He woke me up early with his screaming leaf blower under my bedroom window. That's Strike #2 for him.

  2. How does he do with snow blowers, Susan?

    1. Yeah, Jerkface has a snow blower too. He's the freak who came into my yard and epoxied a pipe extension onto our sump pump discharge pipe. But he put the extension on so it pointed UPHILL. Meaning the water would run right back down into our foundation. I had my BIL saw it off and threatened the creep with legal action if he trespassed again.

    2. Our next door neighbors are yard care fanatics too. Not content with a (LOUD) power mower, they got a riding mower last year. They leaf blow at all hours and seemingly twenty-four hours a day come leaf blowing season, especially on otherwise peaceful Saturday and Sunday mornings. Snow blowing ditto come snow blowing season. OTOH snow blowing is actually a very good idear, and they often do our sidewalk as well as their own, which is very helpful indeed. But the lawn mower and leaf blower are the bane of our existence. There's a fairly large separation between our house and the property line. All the same, the machines sound like they are right under our windows. I wish people would go back to reel mowers and rakes!

  3. CBS Evening News did a nice feature on Vermont leaf peeping earlier this week.

Got Vivvie's ashes back today. I'll keep them on my highboy where no kitty will jump up and knock over the box. I feel better having the ashes, but it's not the same as having my Vivvie baby.

Went to the doctor yesterday. Just a preliminary visit at the new practice. Results of blood work expected next week, and we'll see from there what else if anything she wants. Meantime, mammogram needs to be scheduled and *shudder* eventually colonoscopy. Definitely not looking forward to that one! But, I definitely agree (at least in principle) that it is a good idear. Totally forgot to mention the osteoporosis in both hips and osteopenia in spine. That is very serious and usually not far from my consciousness. How on earth it slipped my mind is beyond me. Hopefully I'll manage to remember next time.

This week I read Linda Ronstadt's memoir, Simple Dreams A most enjoyable read, especially for anyone interested in the California Music scene of the late '60s and '70s. She doesn't cover the '80s and later in as much detail, but by that time she was touring and doing lots of other things. The book is beautifully written with no apparent ghost writer. Sis absolutely refuses to believe Linda wrote it herself, but it seems so. She had a lot of editorial and other help, but that is not the same thing as being ghost written. Anyway, I recommend it.

The Global Challenge, Fun Trivia's multi-month tournament, started on Tuesday. I'm not a high flyer, a fairly steady player though. Last time I made it about 30% of the way through Level 8 by the end. Hoping to reach Level 9 this time. Level 10 - the ultimate level - would be nice, but probably not likely this time.

  4. Ah yes, noise, especially on Sunday mornings and early afternoons, really bothers me too. One thing I love about November is that it is often a break one can enjoy between lawn mowing and snow blowing. And it has the best sunsets of the year.
