  1. On Saturday I worked, then napped, then cleaned house, then we went into town to get a cone, shop, watch the sun set, eat out (American Flatbread!), and go to a movie "Magic in the Moonlight." It's cute; a good date movie. Colin Firth and Emma Stone do a good job.

Grandson comes today! VT*Grand turns 7 on Labor Day. :-)

  2. Heating up in Paradise--going to be upper 80's, low 90's for the next week: summer has arrived just in time to shake hands with winter, lol!

  4. HUH?!

Israel has announced plans to expropriate 400 hectares (988 acres) of Palestinian land in the West Bank.

The decision to appropriate land south of Bethlehem is believed to be the largest seizure by Israel in 30 years.

The military-run local administration said it was a response to the kidnapping and killing of three Jewish teenagers in the area in June.

Really? I thought the last 50 days of conflict was in response to that.
Egads. They really need to go back to "an eye for an eye"!

  5. Bill, here's the info on that book:

Disability in science fiction: representations of technology as cure
    edited by Kathryn Allan
publlished by Palgrave/Macmillan, a division of St. Martin's Press, 2013

The introduction presents the book as starting the conversation between Disability Studies and SF Studies. It sounds fascinating, but it proved a bit deep for bedtime reading, so I got sidetracked last night.

  6. It's been warmer and more humid the past couple days than the previous couple weeks. Had rain this evening, a nice, gentle but steady rain, the sort that is calming and comforting to listen to from inside.

  7. I finished the third raisin drying table, and am now sure I know the (three) places where I went wrong with the first one. I will be easy enough to fix after the raisins are finished. It works OK; it just doesn't look so great, or roll as steadily as the new and improved models. Tomorrow (Monday) we go to the packing shed to get the grapes we ordered.

    1. I suppose I will never learn to proofread before posting; but it can be good for a laugh...

It was intended to read ",,,It will be easy enough to fix after the raisins are finished." I was fixed a long time ago.
