That girl, Jill, on Memories of Enge is going in for her surgery Tuesday. So, I messaged Melodie to ask for Jill's phone number, explaining that I wanted to give her a quick buzz to wish her well. Melodie said she didn't have Jill's permission to give out her number and for me to message her, like I'm a total stranger and not trustworthy.
Then later in the evening, a bunch of them were on a thread and someone said the gang's all here. No, someone else said, so-n-so and so-n-so aren't here. They named three people but no mention of me.
Together the two things made me feel terrible. I thought I was a member of the group. I thought I was one of those considered friends and cared about. More fool I.
So I've come home to my real friends, who do care about me...if you guys will have me. Sorry I've been away so long. I'm thinking of leaving Memories of Enge. I have a lot of fun there, but if I don't really belong, if I'm just deluding myself, why stay?
I'd say there are often little subgroups in a large group. Here we are already a subgroup of the original Dean blog, so we all belong all the time. :-) And as you see, I was already thinking of you.
Puddle, it is a subgroup of the larger MOE, which has quite a large member roll. I was thinking just the other day that this particular sub-group seems all to be those of us in our forties. The older ladies don't participate in the hunk fests. I donno. Maybe I overreacted. But thanks for the sympathy, and for missing me. Feeling a bit unworthy at the moment.
I've also gotten back to the "What Are You Reading Now" group on Library Thing. That's always fun because the range of reading interests is so diverse. Folks are friendly there. Donno if anybody here would be interested in LT... There's literally something for every book lover there. Just today I joined the brand new Daphne du Maurier group.
I might be interested in that "What are you reading" group if I weren't so swamped. The SMOFs e-mail list can be very active at times, which what can charitably be called "sharp disagreements." And while the Disability Pride parade is over, with only a few checks left to write, Chicon 7 is heating up both in terms of e-mail activity and thing that are on my own plate. I'm currently trying to find ASL interpreters. It's lucky that work is in a bit of a lull right now, though no telling how long that will last.
And my computer is still not working right. Haven't heard from the Microsoft tech since Monday or been able to contact him. If I don't hear something Monday I'll contact one of the other tech about how to proceed.
What good is "Preview" if it doesn't allow you to edit what you've written. I discovered I's written "which" for "with" and "thing" for "things," but no way to edit except to delete and re-post.
Yes, as far as I am aware that is the only way to correct errors. Which would seem to make the Preview function all but useless -- you can see your errors just as well after posting.
Hot and sticky and icky! No rain today, though we're supposed to have thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon. That's irritating, because Patty and I were planning to go to the park tomorrow afternoon. I'll have to give her a buzz in the morning to see what she wants to do.
Sis' kitty, Emma, is so sick and in so much pain that Sis and Dad have decided to take her on Monday to be put to sleep. She isn't going to get better, and though she is very patient and never cries, even I can see now that she is declining. Rather than make her suffer needlessly, it's better to put her to sleep.
I agree to that proposition when Sis puts it to me, but still, if it were my special kitty friend, I don't think I could bring myself to do it. Frankly, I'm hoping Emma will slip away quietly in her sleep. That would be better for everybody, especially her.
Oh, you know my heart is right there with you and Sis and her Emma, as it's nearly a year since we said good-bye to our Emma (Sept 2nd). ♥ =^. .^= ♥
No rain here at all. It missed us by one town. I guess it's waiting for tomorrow, when we have to drive an hour and a half down the interstate and back.
Howard is most definitively first!
ReplyDeletelistener, left a note on the last thread about href's.
Thanks!
DeleteAh. Thankful becomes a Mother In Law today. . . .
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, how lovely! And tomorrow's post is a Rene post! ♥
DeleteHi guys!
ReplyDeleteThat is sooo funny, Cat!
ReplyDeleteI was just writing a message to you, it disappeared and when I got in again, there was your note!
It hit 95F here today "feels like 98F." Heh.
ReplyDeleteI heard that down your way there was some very serious flooding, and one area a little north of you got something like eleven inches of rain!
How'd you make out?

OF COURSE, you belong here. In fact, if you'll recall, you were the one who first invited me in.
DeleteThat's true, I did. And very glad I am too. You fit here perfectly.

ReplyDeleteThanks, listener♥
DeletePeople in groups can be very careless of others' feelings. Sorry you were hurt. Hugz!
ReplyDeleteAnd you WERE missed here!! ♥

DeleteSince I don't use Preview, I know nothing about it. Can you maybe go "Back" to edit?
DeleteAll I am able to do is copy, delete, paste, wordsmith, and post.

DeleteSo, how was your weather today, Cat? Did you get some of the coveted rain?

DeleteI take it you didn't get any rain?
It was hot and sticky here, but we DID get one of the predicted thunderstorms. Seems as though it may have cooled off a bit afterwards.

Yes, I know what you mean. We had a cat who died the day before we were to take him in. Hope for what is best for Emma.
DeleteThanks, Bill.

No doubt. The rain always waits till the most inconvenient time.
DeletePlaying the Daily Trivia Game over at Fun Trivia (Don't worry, playing the untimed game) and saw this question that I just had to share:
ReplyDeleteMovies: General Questions
Which of these is NOT a real character from the "Star Wars" universe?
Jabba the Hutt
Pizza the Hutt
Zorba the Hutt
Gardula the Hutt
Just reading the words "Obama landslide" gives me a smile. Thanks, Puddle.
