Both my computer AND blogger were being beasts last night: took more than an hour to post the update and get here to announce it. Got it posted to the end of the last thread, but *would not* let me get here. Gave up and went to bed.
Are you kidding? When you posted that I had already been at work for an hour!
Tonight was newest DIL's birthday party. She turns 30 on Tuesday...and I must say, my son did a gorgeous job of throwing her a party! The Band was AMAZING!!!
Laffin right now, though I shouldn't be: my Physicist son just emailed me from his smart phone. He left home without his wallet, is in Harrisonburg and low on gas. I mailed him my CC number with those little numbers on the back of the card showing that you're *looking* at the card. . . . Waiting to hear. I got gas that way on HIS card a decade or so ago when I ran out of cash on my way home to take care of my mum. Colorado and Idaho. One called him. The other one took my word.
Got his CC number from his wife. Big station turned him down. Headed for Stanton where a branch of his bank is open till four (missed the noon closing in HRG0. Pray ya'll. My poor sweet natured absent minded professor-son.
He got the cc number from his wife, was refused gas with it, missed the bank closing at noon, and is headed to Staunton, where's there's a branch open till four. Hope the gas holds.
Meanwhile, I feel positively *tied* to the computer in case he needs me to drive over.

We went shopping for a new car this morning/midday and ordered one, a Toyota Camry hybrid, a little on the snazzy side but not crazy. Of course the usual bait and switch--walked out of the first dealership when it was too egregious. Second place it was not so bad and might even have been an honest mistake. The price wasn't anything to turn handsprings over, but it was competitive.
Had a nice potluck reunion with folks from a previous place of employment that had a lot of good things to be said for it, but was taken over by a bigger outfit and destroyed in fairly short order. The morning was cloudy, cool, and it even rained a bit, but the afternoon was really fine. They had a pretty good turnout considering it had been more than 20 years, better than 30 people (including significant others).

Great Ally news!
Currently reading "Murder in the Gun Room" by H. Beam Piper [free at Project Gutenberg]. I gather it's rather outside the scope of his normal writing, which runs to space operas and some parallel universe stuff. A good murder mystery set in the early 1950's; I haven't any idea who the guilty parties are.
Howard Dean is ever First!

Alan, if you use the drop down at Comment as: And go down to name/Url, you can put your name in. Whether it holds, I don't know.
ReplyDeleteHow come I can see Reply AND Delete for every person's every post??!

ReplyDeleteBecause you have admin privileges, lol! We all used to have them under haloscan, but Echo charged a *lot* extra, so Renee, rightly, declined.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Alan, it doesn't hold. Guess you need a google account or one of the others to have the name hold.
