  2. This noisy fan is annoying. I think I'd best sign off and give the computer a rest.
Good thing I work at a library!

  3. Good luck wit' the 'puter. Doesn't seem that old, right?

  4. Well, it was new to me a year ago, but was a refurbished model.

  7. Have a pretty pretty day here. Warmer than yesterday, and a bit muggy. But I haven't had the A/C on at all today. Cruising along on last night's A/C, but likely to turn it on in a bit now.

  9. My YouTube project is beset with obstacles on all sides. Now it turns out my scanner isn't installed. Guess we never got around to doing that after installing XP. ARG! I hope Dad has time and energy to do that tonight...

I kind'a get the feeling somebody up there doesn't want me to do this.

  10. Or is testing how *much* you want to do it. . . .

  11. Or is interceding for you with sighs too deep for words, and wishing those dudes at Microsoft would listen up already and heed the Nudges to be more careful!

  12. Ah. Testing is not a good thing to do to me. Or, rather, it's a great way to make me dig in my heels. I can be one stubborn mousey. 8)

  13. listener--
I never saw the movie Contact but it looks interesting. Ordered it from Netflix; thanks. Fingers crossed that you aren't visited by Lyme disease. Back when it was new to North America neither the blood tests nor the treatments were very dependable, but presumably things have improved a lot since then. Still a VERY good thing not to have...
P.S.: Sounds like things are about as they were...

HEP loading test shows new DSL connection is definitely zippier. Had some minor troubles with passwords and such things, but that's all fixed now.

New iMac came on Saturday, but the FedEx Ground guy left with it when Miyoko didn't hear the doorbell. Second try will be Tuesday (I signed the door tag so he would just leave the package).

Did some lab tests on myself this weekend, including lipid tests. For some unknown reason my cholesterol is lower than it has been in decades, and my HDL cholesterol is higher than before. Triglycerides also low. All good, for unknown reasons. Haven't lost any weight to speak of, or changed diet. Except that I have changed from drinking beer (in moderation) to drinking (in moderation) a famous alpine herbal remedy [absinthe]. Or could it be a side effect of the chemo? I'll take it in any event--no doctor will scold me now.

Cat--I remember the adapters that went into the 45 rpm records so they would work on a 78 or 33 1/3 rpm spindle. Also the adapter that went over the 78 rpm spindle to fit the 45's directly. 78's didn't play very long...

puddle--Ah, yes--Rumi, the most celebrated of the Sufi poets. Always a good read. Did you realize that "Rumi" means "the Roman?" Because he was from Anatolia, which Arabic speakers still called Rum long after the conquest of the Eastern Roman Empire.

Marvelous Ally photo to go with fine news! "Eat, Pray, Love?" If you say so, maybe I better have a look-see when it comes out on DVD. What I have read about the plot points to potential.

Weather has been "cool" for Agust lately, but supposed to get back up to 100 degrees or somewhat more this coming week.

    And now to bed. TTFN
