All Fluffed Up

  1. Well, HALLLOOOOOOOO!

It was mighty frustrating to be on the road and have Blogger mess up. When I'm using my iPhone, I have to enter my username and password every time I get into Blogger. It was making me do it every time I posted, and it wasn't saving any of my posts!! I contacted Renee who peeked in, just as it all got going again. Then, it quit again! Argh! I hope it's back for good now.

I'm home. Tired. Going to rest and try to catch up.

Today is Grandson's actual 3rd birthday, but the big celebration for him on Sunday was pretty sweet.

  2. Trump Isn’t Above the Law
[Click] Related comment from behind a paywall: “That Republicans won’t allow Trump a way out of an unpopular government shutdown is a bad sign for the president. It’s a small indication some might actually be worried Trump thinks he’s above the law.”

    2. Me too. And I thought it was rather tone-deaf for Kirsten Gillibrand to hit up Wall Street firms for money first thing; it seems an admission that she lacks public support and doesn't think she can gain it. Beyond that I don't know much about her.

    3. Gillibrand was the leading loud voice in getting Al Franken out without even an investigation.

    4. Thanks for the reminder, Susan. Given that incident, it seems fair to dismiss her out of hand as a tool of Wall Street.

    5. Indeed. Two down before they've even started. The field is not too promising so far, is it?

  3. Andrew Weiss Thread: [Click] “THREAD: Has anyone noticed the very disturbing overlap between Trump’s insistence on preventing his own staff from learning about discussions with Putin at the Hamburg G20 meeting in July 2017 and how he handled initial revelations about the infamous Trump Tower meeting?” When one stitches the timeline together, is seems rather malodorous, methinks…

Josh Marshall: “Let me share a few thoughts about the WaPo report on President Trump going to extraordinary lengths to hide the details of his one-on-one conversations with Vladimir Putin. First, the most obvious point: this simply confirms what we’ve now been discussing for years. The President is hiding something very secret and very damaging about his relationship to Russia and Putin. The possibilities of what that might be we’ve discussed at great length. We don’t need to rehearse them here. But there’s simply no innocent explanation for the totality of this behavior.” (Emphasis added; more behind paywall.)

The mature stoner: why are so many seniors smoking weed? [Click] Well, it’s certainly far better than whatever DT is smoking.

    1. It seems pretty well established that when marijuana is legalized, opioid use decreases.

    2. While I don't know from personal experience, I would guess that the reason seniors are smoking weed is:
      (a) They did when they were young and now it's legal, and/or
      (b) They don't really care if they smoke because there wouldn't be enough time to develop a fatal illness from it and even if they did you've gotta go somehow.
      (c) And anyway, old age ain't for sissies! It takes the edge off their aches and woes without the side effects of other drugs.
