so i didn't read the threads fully and am now noticing that there's another blog populated by A LOT of people who used to post on this blog. i gather the reason, and hope people still check in here because although i very much understand why the other blog exists and wish it very very well i personally don't feel a need to leave this one. If someone is double posting on this and the other blog, please pass this announcement on....

  12. help! I'm doing HTML for the first time, and I sure as hell don't want to have to delete it if it's impolite. . . .

  13. There it is! You can link to anything you like!! See the links on my site? Didn't ask any of 'em. It's really rather flattering I think.

The great thing about letting them know though, is, one- you get to pat em on the back and two, they'll likely link to you :)

  15. Okay, kimmy, cool.

Patricia, you know by coming here you've become one of the Cool Kids, right?

(And you are right: we are all very lucky we are here, and not there. Floods are not places to be. Been there. And even only 6" in your living room can keep you busy for months! I can not begin to imagine what they are going through.)

  16. Really, kimmy, thank you! The thought of having unpick all that HTML was really stressing me out, LOL!! (The Devil invented it, you know?)

  19. Sorry, don't want to pollute the thread, but all this "Get back over here so I can fight with you" effluvium from a particular blogger on BFA is cracking me up. He still hasn't figured out we're not "weak", just sick to death of him.

Bless Renee for giving us someplace to converse without combat gear.

  20. Shit! real quick.. Miss Renee ne.. love to you! Sorry you're stressed out and having a difficult time with the whole school/dress code stuff!!! Love you!

  21. ♥ love to *you*, Kimmy!

I'm sure Demetrius can relate to the spending 17 hours on one graphic thing.

And speaking of javascript, I got the javascript to work for the blogroll, but still can't figure out the RSS feed thing--getting headlines from BFA here automatically. I thought I had a bit of code that would do that, but I haven't been able to get it to work. Someone said you knew about such things. I'll have to remember to ask you about it later. Some time when I'm genuinely awake and alert.

  22. I *so* need to be asleep right now, but I've got too much stuff keeping me awake. Need to give it another try though.

For anyone who hasn't seen the story about the Austrian town with the rude name, click.

Only one kind of crimimal ever stalks the sleepy 32-house village near Salzburg on the German border -- cheeky British tourists armed with a sense of humour and a screwdriver.

But the local authorities are hitting back and with the signs now set in concrete, police chief Kommandant Schmidtberger is on the lookout.

"We will not stand for the F---ing signs being removed," the officer told the broadsheet.

"It may be very amusing for you British, but F---ing is simply F---ing to us. What is this big F---ing joke? It is puerile."

Local guide Andreas Behmueller said it was only the British that had a fixation with F---ing.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - At least 300 Shiite pilgrims were killed during a religious procession when a railing on a bridge collapsed, sending scores into the Tigris River, a police commander said. One official said the toll could rise to more than 600.

  31. Hey everyone. I just found out about this today. Glad this blog is 'Oler-free'. ;)

  32. Morning, everyone!

Renee, I hope your son has a good day today and the transition to his new school is smooth.

Did I hear that *Listener, Anne, Patricia and Teri* have come over to the grownup table? Very cool.

BTW, my SIL is from Louisiana and when I talked to her yesterday, her parents in Baton Rouge are fine (no power, tree fell on their garage) but they had a vacation place in Bay St. Louis (probably gone) and the status of her relatives who live in MS is unknown.

  34. Does anyone have an idea why my posts seems to disappear? I am in Zurich at my desk following the rescue efforts on a link to the local station in New Orleans.

I have tried to explain that and post a link now several times and it disappears every time. Does someone find that offensive or am I just posting wrong?
