Never a dull computer moment for me this week... For reasons passing comprehension, I now can ONLY receive mail via my computer and send mail via my iPhone. I look forward to next week when my new computer will arrive and I can get everything back on track again! That will likely mean a visit to youngest in NH, as he originally set up my iPhone and Mac and will need to unscramble the issue. To have the local tech guys do the deed, they said they would need to take my computer for 6 DAYS! No Way!! It has my banking info and so much more! It only takes a few hours at best to do all that’s needed.
AND! I can Admin from Brave, on my phone!!!! This is HUGE!! I haven’t been able to do this for YEARS!!! And just in time, incase for any reason I can’t Adnin from my computer once we get the new computer running. =Whew!=
I have always HATED exercise for the sake of exercise, but I have had pain and restricted motion for a long time. Massage and analgesics (internal and external) weren't much help. The past two mornings I did some modest lower-body stretching exercises that I hadn't for a long time, and the results were striking. Starting today I shall resume some modest upper-body exercises with barbells. Fingers crossed (figuratively). ----Alan
Yes, no fingers crossed while lifting. π I am the same as regards exercise for the sake of it… Yet I find I feel much stronger and lively when I make myself partake of it. I need it for cardio health and am currently doing 10-12 miles per day on the elliptical. That, along with no added sugar at all usually gets me in good shape ahead of sailing season.
It seems to be working; too soon to be sure, though. Don't want to overdo. listener writing about exercise machines and getting ready for sailing season gave me another one of my great ideas for inventions that will never happen because I am not a businessman: an exercise machine designed to simulate a capstan! [Way hey, and up she rises; way hey and up she rises.. . ] -----Alan
I've been extra stiff and achy lately. Unfortunately, our elliptical is currently encumbered with cleared away stuff midway between one place and another, which will take a little while yet to all get where it's going. Looking forward to being able to use it again at some point.
Yes, and it would be typical if the Coroner's lab should take far longer than necessary to do carbon monoxide testing on the decedents' blood. Another hint that they wouldn't mention in public is that when the tissue samples are placed into formalin (preservative), the next day they will still be red; in non-carbon monoxide cases they will be brown. I had missed the bit about the space heater being knocked over--- another strong bit of circumstantial evidence. In Japan kerosene-fueled space heaters are commonly used in the winter (central heating is rare), but they are designed to automatically turn off if they should fall over. -----Alan (who did a lot of work for coroners over decades)
I’m utterly disgusted with having a toddler in the WH.
CNN: “Hostile meeting: After a heated Oval Office exchange between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the White House said an afternoon news conference has been canceled. Trump said Zelensky can come back to the White House “when he is ready for peace.” The meeting devolved into a shouting match, with the US president telling Ukraine’s leader “make a deal or we’re out” and Vice President JD Vance questioning whether Zelensky had demonstrated enough gratitude for US support during the three-year war.“
“ Olga Tokariuk, an academy associate at the Ukraine Forum of British think tank Chatham House, said President Donald Trump was “siding with the aggressor” following his tense Oval Office exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Total bully tactics by the US president and VP. This is not diplomacy. This is not neutrality. This is siding with the aggressor and trying to finish off the victim,” Tokariuk said in a post on X.”
“A member of Russia’s state-owned news agency gained access to the Oval Office on Friday to cover President Trump’s sit-down with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — even as the AP and Reuters were barred from the high-level meeting. The White House said the journalist was not authorized to be in the press pool.
“A correspondent for TASS, a Russian state media organization, was among a group of hand-picked pool reporters present in the Oval Office for the leaders’ meeting, which is part of the US’ efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine. The testy Trump-Zelensky sit-down may yield a signed deal that would exchange US access to Ukraine’s mineral resources for security guarantees.
“Though the group of pool reporters in the Oval Office was hand picked, the White House has denied the TASS staffer was permitted entry.”
One military officer, who goes by the call sign Aleks, said on Telegram he doesn’t “give a damn” about the kind of peace Trump offers.
“It’s better to fight to death than to freeze the war and then be drained again in three years,” he said.
“Trump understands the aggressive manner of negotiations and is trying to crush Zelensky. There would have been no heated talks if Trump had offered at least a ceasefire on the contact line with minimal amendments,” said Stanislav Buniatov, another Ukrainian military officer, in a Telegram post. “We are talking about handing over Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and a number of cities in the Donetsk region to the Russians,” Buniatov added.
“How do you imagine giving away cities with people? Trump does, because we are not people to him, he is negotiating on behalf of Putin’s interests, so don’t stoop to that,” he added.

~Susan. Zelensky has been standing with his people and facing Russian guns, tanks and bombs for three years, and Trump thinks that screaming at him will sway him? Trump is a fool.
DT is a malignant narcissist, sociopathic toddler with dementia. And this was a setup. DT and Vance planned to bully President Zelenskyy which is clear because they let in a reporter from the Russian news service Tass. That is a first…and treat reporter isn’t supposed to be there. But the press present were hand picked. This was a photo op fir DT’s supporters, so DT can claim the problem is Zelenskyy.
Trump and Vance are evil and, in addition, working to oppose American interests, dismantle the American government and hurt or kill as many Americans as possible, vis. placing RFK Jr. at HHS, running a steamroller through the VA, MEDICAID, Food Stamps etc. and now that hurricane and tornado seasons are almost upon us, gutting the National Weather Service and NOAA. Can't work out what Musk's beef is with those last two, same as the Park Service and the Forest Service, but I'm sure at some point, someone in one of these services pissed him off. I can't wait for Tesla stock to crash once and for all, so maybe Musk will go away. Trump and Vance definitely need to go away right now!

I think you are correct, as a space heater had been knocked over, Gene Hackman fell near a door, and the dog died in its crate.
