    1. I don't think that replacing "Democracy Dies in Darkness" with "Riveting Story for All of America" will do anything to solve the Post's self-inflicted problems. As the author writes, it sounds like a joke. -- nordy

    2. Contrarian:
In an effort to broaden its appeal, the Washington Post has changed its slogan from “Democracy Dies in Darkness” to

“Riveting Storytelling for All of America.” The following are six runner-up slogans that were in strong contention:

    3. What nordy posted is by Andy Borowitz, so that's intended as sarcasm.
Personally, I think "Release the Kraken" says it best.

  2. Some News

The Israeli war cabinet has accepted the Gaza cease fire deal, despite one ultra right wing minister threatening to resign. Meanwhile, the IDF continues to bomb and shell Gaza, the West Bank, refugee camps and a hospital.

Trump's nominee for Treasury Secretary has vehemently rejected any raise in the federal minimum wage, yet delivers an empassioned declaration that, unless Trump's tax cuts for billionaires and megacorporations is renewed, the country will face economic disaster.

In an address to the UN General Assembly, Secretary-General Guterres has clearly and explicited linked the L.A. wild fires to climate change. Seperatly, there has been a fire at a battery plant in northern California.

I wonder where I could direct a letter or e-mail so that it will reach Mr. Biden; I would like to let him know I think he did a good job.

    2. I guess the point is to force El Trumpu to come straight out and say he opposes the ERA? Donno. It doesn't make any sense to me.

  5. Anti-abortion advocates look for men to report their partners’ abortions.
Wapo: As anti-abortion advocates launch legal efforts to stop abortion pills from reaching women in states with bans, they are increasingly turning to one group with uniquely intimate and specific information to help them find cases: male sex partners of women who decided to end their pregnancies.

The strategy propelled a first-of-its-kind lawsuit filed last month by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton that cited firsthand information from an unnamed “biological father” to accuse a New York doctor of illegally providing abortion pills to a woman in the Dallas area, according to two people familiar with the case’s origins. -- nordy

    2. As late as the early 20th Century, both the wife and the children of a marriage were property of the husband. In this case, it occurs to me that the accuser might not have any actual proof of what he alleges; the woman could testify that she just told him that to make it clear that she was not going to bear a child of his.
