That’s VT*Grand as the Sorceress in the Opera

Of course the Sorceress prevails…it opened on

  1. I was familiar with the story of Dido and Aeneas in the Aeneid, but not the opera; consequently the Sorceress and witches puzzled me, but Wikipedia was informative. [Click] One learns something every day if one is not careful.

It’s pretty much part 4 of Aeneid.

They all did exceptionally well, but VT*Grand’s voice was clearly the most eloquent…like fine wine.
It has really matured with the opera coaching! We were blown away!!!

    2. We studied the opera in the Humanities sequence at UChicago in the 1950s. Or maybe only part of it. All I remember is the chorus "Haste, hastee to town."

  2. ‘Only one viable defense’: how might the CEO murder case play out in court? [Click] I note that Mangione has expressed admiration for the Unabomber— who pleaded guilty rather than allow an insanity defense.

  3. Doug Ford threatens to cut off all power supply from Ontario to the US on Inauguration Day if Trump doesn’t back off on his threat of 25% tariffs on Canada. [Click] Should we nickname him “Smashmouth Ford?” I had never thought I would back him, but “never say never!”

    1. I figure that Doug Ford is quite capable of delivering on a threat.

  4. They told us Comcast would bring us wonderful things. The tv would be brighter, the internet clearer. If only we would let them invade our building.

The orders came from on high; they told people in their 70s and 80s they had to move their own furniture to make way for Comcast. When nobody proved capable of this task, they rescinded the order. But the worst was yet to come.
The Comcast guys arrived, accompanied by noise that made the walls shudder.
The first thing that happened was that I lost my internet connection. For a week. That's why I haven't been here.
When it was all done, the signs of Comcat's handiwork remained on my wall, big ugly wire covers concealing the even uglier wires where my pictures used to be. My tv and internet were no better than befored, and neither was anybody else's. About the only thing I can say is that I survived a week with Comcast. -- nordy
