In brief, the Russian Central Bank must keep things looking kind of OK for another several weeks for the year-end report, but will probably lose control of interest rates and exchange rates shortly after that. -----Alan
I'm AWOL a lot this week because I'm still marathoning on our yearly "Grand Moments" tome, trying to get it done by Monday so we can have copies in hand when we visit family in Maine just before Christmas. Plus I have five meeting this week. So far I have completed from 1 DEC 2023 through 30 MAY 2024. Hoping the rest goes quickly. It involves scrolling through the whole family's posts and texts (13 adults and teens!), to glean the funniest, wittiest, and most poignant moments of the year. So there's a lot of researching and formatting involved. But I'm thinking of you all, grateful to have some links to come to at the end of the night, and a way to keep in touch with the world's happenings!! 🌺
Syria is of huge concern. It's so good that Assad is out of power...worrisome that he's being sheltered in Russia...and extremely concerning that Israel is taking advantage of the situation, shelling military equipment in Syria and taking land along the Golan Heights. Israel was rescued and now just seems to feel entitled. I have deep respect for Jewish people of faith, and none whatsoever for the leadership of Israel.
Syria has been a matter of great concern for decades. Inadequate rainfall ruined the rural economy, and large numbers of unmarriageable young men moved to the cities, which is a formula for very serious trouble. ----Alan

By the time that starts ot come out, though, DT will be in power and will probably help out Putin. And Putin knows it.

So this afternoon I got my teeth cleaned AND had my new crown implaced. The hygienist remarked that I was getting my royal crown.

Delete😊 Is it made of gold?
(Wil got his crown last week.)
I have a number of crowns; some are from when I was in high school, but I am not sure how many. All gold; they are very durable.
