Zoo Day

Relax.  This scorpion lives in Africa.  She is a large scorpion, slow-moving, and not very harmful at all.  My friend Janice, in the Peace Corps there, tells me the smaller they are, the more deadly they are. { ! }

   Today we are headed to the Stone Zoo in Massachusetts for fun with all three Granddaughters!!! :-)

Glass Cacti

These Cacti are made entirely of glass!  They are part of a 4300 piece collection of glass flowers created by father and son Blaschka, some parts hand blown and some heated and shaped. They were  created between 1889 and 1936 with very basic tools.  I will say more about them as I post more of them in coming days.  On exhibit at the Harvard Museum of Natural History, I recall seeing (and being enchanted with) these flowers as a child.  

How delightful to find and see them again recently!

On the Porch, we arranged all the flowers for the reception tables. Here they are, all ready to beautify!

I'll be painting scenes at the Inn, perhaps like this one.  Hmmm, perhaps I should buy more green paint before I go. ;-)

Porch!

This is the porch I'll be sitting out on for some plein air painting during a three day painting workshop today through Sunday! I learned this week that so far I am the only person who signed up...and they're going to do it anyway.  I get to stay at the Inn, too.  This is the same Inn where our son was married two years ago (August 13th). We will have our family Christmas gathering here, also, this December.
