I got up early yesterday morning to let the dogs outside, and saw that Spot was finally, mercifully, motionless. The cats were sitting together on the arm of the couch. Not usually how I find them. I figured they were either A) professing their innocence, or B) sitting shiva.
Renee, I 'spect B) . . . . I've noticed animals being aware of death. Beau's former mother said when he found a basket of dead baby chicks (they were losing several a day) that he sat in front of it, and bowed his head and contemplated. I've also seen pics of elephants caressing bones of gone relatives. . . .
