Today the temperature got up to 80F, but it became clear that I was suffering from water and electrolyte depletion. Discovered I had only 3 balanced salt tablets left (expiration date 2018), and despite the problems with such things we have around here every summer (including occasional deaths due to heat stroke--- a REALLY bad way to go) none of the local drugstores carry the old salt tablets any more, and delivery will take 2-4 days. Cynical person that I am, I suspect that the profit margin on [X]atorade and similar drinks is way more than the old standby. Naomi will pick up some [X]atorade for me on the way home. ----Alan
Goodness, Alan. That sounds scary. I'm glad you're taking care and that Naomi is helping. I definitely feel that any temperature 80ºF or higher is not at all necessary or welcome. Our high today was 39ºF, with a little spitting snow.
You pay your money and you take your chances; this is the first time I have been so afflicted. I remember when the lab where I worked did the toxicology for the State of Maine Medical Examiner's Office; every once in a while during the winter they would find a body frozen solid in an unheated house. They would pop the body into the refrigerator for about four days to thaw out enough that they could do an autopsy. None of that around here. ----Alan
HORRORS! A LIBRARY! What would Lord Trump say? Oh yes--- a terrorist haven, or some such.

It's probably the Opera House that scares him. Could be a Phantom.
DeleteNah, it's probably the books.
