    1. Dear nordy, I am so sad to hear your pain continues!! How long did they say it takes to heal from broken ribs, such that you are at least reasonably comfortable again? When Wil coded and they cracked some ribs while doing CPR to bring him back, he felt it for about 4 months. A full-on break has to take longer. But sheesh! Can they give you something useful for the pain?

    2. listener, I talked a reluctant doctor into giving me more hydrocode on a reduced dose. This helps but it is an opiate and she doesn't want me to have it. Don't know how long it will last. -- nordy

    3. Opiates are wonderful medicine if used appropriately. After my two GI surgeries they made the difference between being able to sleep and not, which I am convinced hastened my recovery. Each time they sent me home with 50 and I used 3 or 4. Interestingly, when people really need them for pain relief, they don't cause nausea.

    4. Fentanyl patches are scary; using a heating pad or even running a fever can significantly accelerate the rate of release. And the manufacturer has mountains of money to spend fighting claims that their product might have caused someone's death.

    5. nordy, I so hope that by the time your prescription runs out you will have healed enough that the pain is lessened.
Wil sends his commiseration about the pain of busted ribs!! 😣

  7. Migraines made life feel unlivable. It took years to find a doctor who believed me [Click] I am astounded that so many physicians failed to recognize migraine headaches. Once recognized, the patient has tried just about every treatment in the MDs' bag of tricks, proven or not.

  10. Thinking of ice being out, I see from the maps that there is evidently little opportunity for casual commerce at the northern extremity of Lake Champlain.
