(I’m thinking all the terms used such as Orange Bully can be rolled into one fake orange name: Tang. I may call DAss “Tang” sometimes.

    1. The lead photo is certainly striking--- the worker in the foreground is not wearing his already minimal mask in a useful way. I had wondered if the human case of avian influenza might have acquired it from dairy cattle, as at least some others have; but no, directly from dead chickens.

  3. 8 Phantom Smells That Predict Dementia Years Before Memory Loss! [Click] My sense of smell deteriorated in Chemistry 1B lab, where we had plentiful exposure to hydrogen sulphide. This video seems somewhat suspect, but the idea doesn't seem unreasonable.

  5. When we went shopping this morning it was raining lightly. On our way home it poured rain-- I think the hardest rain we have seen this winter. By the time we finished lunch the rain had stopped and the sun was out.

    3. We had a bit of snow here, but not enough to have plowed. Family more to the south and east got another FOOT of snow! But our turn comes Sunday when your rain lands here as 12-18" of snow.

  6. State attorneys general challenge Musk and DOGE’s authority
AP: Attorneys general from 14 states challenged the authority of billionaire Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency to access sensitive government data and exercise “virtually unchecked power” in a lawsuit filed Thursday.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Washington, D.C., says the actions taken by Musk at the helm of DOGE can only be taken by a nominated and Senate-confirmed official. It sites constitutional provisions that delineate the powers of Congress and the president.

The attorneys general said the court should bar Musk from issuing orders to anyone in the executive branch outside DOGE and declare that his actions have no legal effect. -- nordy

  8. Trump signals he might ignore the courts

    Jonathan Chait
    The Atlantic
The United States is sleepwalking into a constitutional crisis. Not only has the Trump administration seized for itself extraconstitutional powers, but Feb. 10, it raised the specter that, should the courts apply the text of the Constitution and negate its plans, it will simply ignore them.
Donald Trump is unilaterally declaring the right to ignore spending levels set by Congress, and to eliminate agencies that Congress voted to create. - - nordy
