      I’m looking forward to seeing a lot more of that.

    Speaker Johnson intervened to get Trump into Arlington National Cemetery. An incident with a cemetery worker ensued

    The office of House Speaker Mike Johnson told CNN on Thursday that he’d “had to intervene to get former President Donald Trump into Arlington National Cemetery.”

    1. I would have no problem with Trump going to some other cemetery, if he would just find a nice personal spot and stay there. -Susan

    1. What an amazing man and story. I hope the gems in his writings become treasures that the humanity’s understanding leaps forward.

      * the humanity’s = take humanity's

      I don’t often drink coffee, so no excuses to fall back on. I blame autoINcorrect.

    3. Coffee is my only remaining vice, and after breakfast or thereabouts it is decaffeinated now. Disgusting.

    “I do the weave. Do you know what the weave is? I’ll talk about 9 different things, and they all come back brilliantly together. And friends of mine that are like English professors say, ‘It’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever seen, but the fake news say, ‘He rambled.’”

    Guess who said that...

  5. Ford, other companies retreat from DEI.
    Bloomberg -- The carmaker is the latest in a string of high-profile companies that have pulled back from pledges to commit to diversity, equity and inclusion programs, many of them made in the wake of [George] Floyd’s death. Others include home improvement retailer Lowe’s, motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson, Tractor Supply, Deere and Jack Daniel’s whiskey maker Brown-Forman. -- nordy reversal.

  6. Aware that it's a long weekend, I am nonetheless anxious for word of the federal charges stemming from Trump's criminal use of Arlington for political purposes. IMO such charges should include not only Trump but also every person involved in the filmshoot.

    This is seperate from the cemetary employee. Glenn Kirschner confirmed my thought that what happened to her amounts to assault and/or battery. It is a terrible thing that she is afraid of bringing charges. You hear of such things in regard to criminal gangs. Well, it's hardly news that Trump is a mob boss and his cultists, hangers on etc. are thugs and goons. I hope she is able to get justice in some way.

    As for MAGA Mike, it couldn't have been legal for him to "intervene." Let's hope something will come of that.

  7. More misogynism from JD Vance, according to the Guardian: "Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, said that professional women 'choose a path to misery' when they prioritize careers over having children in a September 2021 podcast interview in which he also claimed men in America were 'suppressed' in their masculinity.

    "The Ohio senator and vice-presidential candidate said of women like his classmates at Yale Law School that 'pursuing racial or gender equity is like the value system that gives their life meaning … [but] they all find that that value system leads to misery.'" --nordy
