A long and well-written article. In its focus on suourhtern Louisiana it undrplays the role of upstream levees on land loss. Climate-driven sea level rise will be very slow. Hurricanes are a different matter. And people focussed on extreme heat do not seem to realize that, on average, warming will be greater the furtuer north you go. It will be minimal at the equator.
The hydrology of the Mississippi Valley has been changed dramatically since the Civil War.
On another note, the heat equator passes through northern Mexico (Hermosillo?); the geographic equator is cooler, because it is mostly rather high. Our climate here is expected to become about like that of far northern Mexico. ---Alan
Nearly 6PM here, and it has been raining pretty steadily since about 2PM; very unusual this late in the year. It is cold enough that I suspect there may be more snow falling in the mountains. -----Alan
