    1. Our 137-year-old house is heated by circulating hot water in the radiators, and there is no effective alternative to natural gas as the heating fuel. But the argument seems to be about cookstoves, and we have had an electric coostove since we moved in 53 years ago.

    2. Maybe you could consider heat pumps. Super quiet and efficient.

  5. I was glad to sleep in this morning, after several days of young grands and excitement!

  6. BTW, that sunflare at the bottom right in the photo showed up mostly white in the photo. But in reality, to the naked eye (which is fine during totality) it was as red as a hot coal! Really impressive to see that!

The Sun always seems so far away, but when the Moon covered it with just the Sun's rays streaming out around the Moon, it made both suddenly seem much larger!

    1. So where what is the move that terrifies Trump? It all seems pretty hum-drum to me. If worse comes to worst, it could result in him spending some time in the county jail-- which is typically a lot easier time than in state or federal prison.

    2. Well, maybe state prison. Maybe I am just underwhelmed because I have participated in so many trials.

    3. Oh, maybe this video explains it? [Click] Trump is starting to feel like a duck in a shooting gallery as one silly attempt after another to delay the NY trial comes a cropper?
Maybe he actually thought that he could put the trial off indefinitely? Gettin’ high on his own supply?——Alan

    1. So many small (and some not so small) private colleges have been closing in recent years. In California the tripartite state college systems (junior colleges, state colleges, and state universities) are extensive; there are and have been few small private colleges, and mostly private colleges have been for the wealthy. Professorship has deteriorated as a profession.
