  1. The buzz is that Mark Meadows has agreed to plead guilty to certain crimes in a federal deal. We'll see if that gets confirmed.

  2. The history and current practice of grand juries is interesting; here is the Wikipedia article on grand juries in general, [Click] and that on grand juries in the United States in particular. [Click] I was once called to testify before a grand jury when the District Attorney couldn’t get a preliminary hearing through the regular superior court in a reasonable length of time because of dilatory defense tactics.

    2. Oh, it was interesting; no cross-examination by opposing counsel, for one thing.

  3. 7 yo grand is at the National Invention Convention in Michigan this week, with her invention of Calm Down Bunny. She gave her presentation a few hours ago and was interviewed as well. Older brother went last year, with his Chicken Feeder 2000 invention. But there's something so real and noble about this young one's aspirations. She invented the Calm Down Bunny after observing that many of her classmates need help to calm down. Her bunny has everything from art supplies to music and bird calls to a soothing scent. Seven helps in all, and more ideas that she thought of as well. I melted when I saw the photo of her being interviewed. Full size mic on a stick, camera and big recording system (two guys to operate it all) plus the interviewer, who, in the photo is smiling. Mama says she stayed calm through the whole thing, too. I guess grand and her Bunny make a great team.

  4. I hadn't yet mentioned that on Monday I sprained my ankle. We were in NH for 7 yo grand's Barnyard Moosical, which was held in a badly overcrowded gymnasium. As we all exited together, I failed to see one of those speed bump type things. Actually, I think this somehow marks where busses line up or something, but it was definitely in a weird location. Down I went and thankfully my $2000 camera (which whammed down with me) came through unscathed. That was my first concern. It felt so odd when I hit that I decided to just sit there for a minute before attempting to get up. 7 yo grand's other grandmother is a recently retired nurse, so I asked her to check it over. Nothing broken! Yay!! Someone got me an ice pack from the school and we headed home, stopping for ice when the pack warmed too much. It swelled up nicely, but honestly has not hurt very much at all. The strange thing is that the bruise is on the FRONT of my ankle and on the big toe of my opposite foot. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    1. From the comments:
      Pangaea
Turkey's proposal to have the dam investigated by a multi national team (incl Ukrainian and Russian specialists) was welcomed by Zelensky but refused by Putin. This is telling enough I believe.

I am an engineer with 45 years experience in hydro power plant design and construction. Just see that the powerhouse has no damage on the surface but is actually displaced downstream, which clearly indicates that it was blown at its foundation. Only the Russians could do that since they were the ones occupying the dam

June 8, 2023 By Taegan Goddard

“It’s so childish. It’s so juvenile. He is such a spoiled baby. When a spoiled baby misbehaves, you send them to their room, not the White House.”

  10. BBC BREAKING NEWS:
Former US President Donald Trump says he has been indicted and will appear in a federal court in Miami on Tuesday.

"I never thought it possible that such a thing could happen to a former President of the United States," he wrote on Truth Social.

It comes just a day after reports Mr Trump was told he was the target of a criminal investigation over the potential mishandling of classified files after he left the White House.

Details of the indictment are unclear.

  12. It just cracks me up the DT's lawyer's name is Jim Trusty. 🤣
Perfect! It fits right in with all the names Republicans use...you know, like "Clean Skies Initiative."

  13. At first I was concerned that the case was being moved from DC to South Florida. I mean, do we really want the jury to consist of Floridians? But then I heard that this serves to make the case go more quickly, since had the begun in DC then DT could have appealed it (since the actions took place in Florida). So, they just decided to begin there and take the wind out of those sails. By the same token, the indictment will remain sealed until he's in Court on Tuesday, to keep him from getting ahead of it in news cycles. Brilliant.

    Don't mess with Jack Smith!

    2. Well, the Secret Service had no need to know.

  14. I was reading that there is another section of federal law dealing with taking, retaining, or losing secret government documents that the prosecution is likely to use because it is clearer than the Espionage Act and easier to prove.
