Continuing with the skunk rescue squad...it must have provoked quite a response among them when they found there really WAS such information on Google, and YouTube, even! But I'd say getting sprayed should have been the least of their worries; skunks are wild animals, have sharp claws and teeth, and can carry rabies. Protective gear would be a necessity.
When I was very young, my folks had a general store/hay feed and grain/county free library/etc./etc in a remote hamlet. It also included the post office, and was the beginning of a "star route" for mail delivery. The mailman would collect shopping lists from mailboxes on the way out to more remote places, and drop them off at the post office/general store when returning; the next day he would deliver the groceries etc. and the bills. For a while (it must have been in the 1960's) my brother worked at a neighborhood grocery on the edge of the Marina District in San Francisco that competed with the big stores by offering free delivery.
As to skunks being wild animals: Well, yes, but they have become urbanized. We have one who lives on our block. I have absolutely no idear where he sleeps or what he eats, but this is definitely his neighborhood. We can often smell him at night when he's unhappy.
I love YouTube. Off and on for a couple weeks I've been watching The Donny and Marie Show. Mostly you can watch complete episodes, but a few are broken up into parts. It's great!
Also found The Underdog Show. What fun! I never really thought about it as a kid, but, you know, on the Go Go Gophers segment, the Indians always win. Pretty subversive stuff, especially for 19 65.
Interesting article on Juffpost today. Between 6% and 12% of the people who voted for Bernie in the primary voted for Trump in the general election. For comparison, 2% of the people who voted for Cruz, 10% of those who voted for Rubio, and 32% of those who voted for Kasich voted for Clinton in the general election. And 24% of those who voted for Clinton in 2008 ended up voting for McCain.
But the most striking statistic was that of those who voted for Bernie and then Trump, only 35% had voted for Obama in 2012. And the major factor governing whether a Bernie supporter would vote for Trump or Clinton was attitudes toward rage.
The article didn't address Bernie supporters who voted third-party.
I maintained from the start that many if not most Trump voters would seem to be Bernie's natural constituency, but it makes me sick to think that Bernie supporters would vote for Trump!
As I no doubt said before, from what I saw there was very little to choose between Clinton supporters and Trump supporters when it came to rage and vitriol...or blind adoration of the chosen candidate.
But how could any such accounting as you discuss, Bill, leave aside those of us who voted third party? In a way, we're the most important group. After all, it was our stupidity and disloyalty that lost Clinton the election. I'd have thought the powers that be would want to study us minutely, the better to pillory us.
