Time for Sundae School!

  1. Howard's a fine and fancy first! And always will be.

Alas, serious storm missed us despite flash flood warnings. . . .

Morning's email from Nancy, uproad neighbor:

Unbelievable storm...H'burg's streets were flowing like rivers, with many streets closed due to flooding and some basements with over 5' of water...and Kelley said that Franklin got hammered with lightning, thunder and heavy rain...a severe storm also went thru Monterey and then up 220 - sounded like Dry Run was getting the brunt of that one...and we ended up getting .06" overnight!!! It appeared that the storms split to go north and south of us - my garden was screaming at the clouds, and I was doing my rain chants, all to no avail!
There's a flood watch in place this morning for western Pendleton - more storms expected here this afternoon - might as well be safe and leave your car up-road? If you do, we won't get flooded!!!

  4. That is certainly a VERY distant cousin! Ain't the InnerTubes sumpin' else?

I just checked out the new Obama vs. Romney TV ad:

They were talking it up so much that I expected more; but I suppose it seems less impressive because I haven't seen any political TV ads to speak of for decades. They do make good use of a very short spot. If this comes out so soon, we can probably expect a family of such ads as the campaign proceeds. Hmmmm... they better change their tactics from time to time to maintain the element of surprise.

Got off early, home by 2:15 PM, bath, nap, dinner and odds and ends. Need to get organized and packed to get on my way dim and early tomorrow for Sandy Eggo. Seems they're putting me up at a pet [friendly] hotel. Dogs even allowed into the restaurant.

  5. Oh, and I like the ecumenical nature of your Sundae School, listener!

  8. So our kitty cat experiment rather failed.

Grandcat Mali was here for several days and nights and was good as gold. Despite the fact that she was in a strange place with people who are practically strangers to her, and in a household in which two kittens were consistently arching their backs and the littlest one hissing at her, Mali never once returned the hiss or made a negative gesture, not even a nip to the people in the house. (Our OWN cats have never been so nice!) Today, Youngest came to fetch Mali, and she went home, as planned. Only...she was so stressed that she actually hissed at Youngest. In the three years they've had her, she has NEVER done that before. =Sigh= So her Auntie Mizzen taught her something new.

Youngest has decided not to bring her back here for the week they're away. He'll find some folks to tend her at home and we'll fill in any blanks in the schedule, by going over to their place.

It will sure take some stress off our week, but I'm still sad it turned out this way. We all thought they'd all get along great, since Mali is so sweet and friendly and the kittens are so naive. Live and learn.
