The second video of Howard I tried to upload aborted half way while I was sleeping. Mostly, it's taking five tries to get one to take. Youtube seems aware of the problem and identify it with a MAC. There have been six views of the first. Compare that to only one for Gore in Valdosta. The local public officials have had 17 views.
Too much priming and painting in Daughter's room! LOL! Had a blast with the Granddaughters today, though! Daughter is now enroute to Switzerland again. Gotta go paint more trim before I fall into bed for the night.
Enroute here we stopped at a Panera and I got soup. Big mistake eating it in the car as they over-filled the container and for the first time ever it was super hot soup. Got a slight scald to the leg, but worse, burned the roof of my mouth (including a small blister!) and even my throat a little!! Good thing mouths heal quickly.
Back home from mining salt at the hospital. The reduced hours actually aren't too bad--I don't have to rush from Job No. 1, can even take a nap. It helps. Seems the new boss must have had his ears pinned back by administration--he suddenly started behaving better.
Here's a good 'un--tomorrow or the next day the link might be to the next day's Non Sequitur; if so, move back to the one for Feb. 28th: http://www.gocomics.com/nonsequitur
It took me a moment to realize what seemed odd about the photo of Bolton Mountain--the snow is reversed! Out here there is no snow in the valley, but the mountains are white! (Pretty good snow coverage, best in several years and more to come. Some parts of the mountains are actually completely white.)
Well, I've esentially done two things today. One was make 20 phone calls on behalf of Sen. Bennet (D-CO) as requested by Organizing for America. I absolutely hate calling strangers (would much rather knock on doors), but this was important. I've pledged through OFA to help out people who are supporting healthcare reform. Not mentioned in the OFA script, but Bennet is the organizer of the request to get the public option included under reconciliation. Not so incidentally, he has also been endorsed by the Council for a Livable World, the arms-control group I've been supporting for decades.
The other thing was finishing the book that will be discussed in a couple of weeks, The Eyre Affair. An enjoyable read, although it seems definitely weird to be reading a police procedural where you were seriously expected to take nothing serously. Start with a protagonist named Thrusday Next. Add a villan named Acheron Hades, who is intentionally the stock comic-book archetype of a villan. Then add a background in which England (not Britain) defeated the Nazis in WW II but is still fighting Imperiod Russia in Crimea. Oh, and did I mention the devide that lets you enter the pages of a book and interact with the characters? May not be for everybody, but I liked it.
Howie's da foistest!
ReplyDeleteBetcha!
