    2. He reluctantly put on an apron, picked up the fries basket out of the oil for a photo op, then said he had worked longer at a McDonald’s than had Harris (who once actually worked at a McDonalds).
      Nothing but lies and bluster.
He doesn’t even use smoke and mirrors.
Anyone still following him is not cognitively healthy.

  2. Unkind fellow that I am, I find myself hoping that The Great Orange One's Madison Square Garden rally (a week from today) will be a flop, or even a disaster. I certainly wouldn't want anyone to do such a thing, but I remember in the early days of transistor radios when people who didn't like the noise would turn the volume on their own transistor radio all the way down and adjust the tuning to a first harmonic (higher or lower I don't recall) of the obnoxious one, inducing a loud scream on the other. The new sound systems are probably set up completely with coaxial shielding, but maybe not.

    1. A little searching on the Internet reveals that speaker wires are [usually?] not shielded and can act as antennas.

    2. Do not try this at home.
But maybe at Madison Square Garden?

      I vote we send Susan.
She could probably use a perk.

  3. Idaho again.
A young teen gives birth. Idaho’s parental consent law snags her care.
(Wapo) McCALL, Idaho — The patient, 36 weeks pregnant, was having mild but frequent contractions. She had come to the emergency room in this small lakeside town because she was new to the area and had no doctor. In most cases, physician Caitlin Gustafson would have begun a pelvic exam to determine whether labor had started. This time, she called the hospital’s lawyers.

Mom-to-be Aleah was only 13 years old. And under a new Idaho law requiring parental consent for nearly all minors’ health care, Gustafson could be sued for treating her because the girl had been brought in by her great-aunt. -- nordy

  4. ๐ŸŒŸWalz attacks Elon Musk giveaway as evidence Republicans have "no plan for the public"๐ŸŒŸ
    From CNN's Aaron Pellish

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz attacked tech billionaire Elon Musk for pledging to give away $1 million daily to registered voters in battleground states, arguing that Musk’s gambit comes from Republicans having “no plan for the public.”

When asked on ABC’s “The View” about the giveaway, which has drawn scrutiny from some election law experts, Walz avoided discussing its legality but said Musk is engaging in “these type of tactics” to convince voters to support former president Donald Trump rather than address critical issues. Musk has endorsed Trump and has given more than $75 million to prop up his pro-Trump super PAC.

“I think that’s what you do when you have no plan for the public, when you have no economic plan that’s going to benefit the middle class, when you have no plan to protect reproductive rights, when you have no plan to address climate change and produce American energy, you go to these type of tactics,” he said.
Throughout the interview, Walz contrasted Harris’ vision with Trump’s and portrayed the former president as dangerous and unfit for the presidency. He also again attacked Trump for suggesting he would use the military to go after political opponents and tried to compare that to Harris’ vision for an “opportunity economy.”

“I think what you’re seeing in these final days, it is going to be close, but this is where people are making up their mind, and it’s very clear that, as you said, Donald Trump is spiraling down, unhinged,” he said.

  5. Alan, y'know how you were surprised to learn that Kamala Harris only turned 60 yesterday?
Well, hang onto your hat, because Tim Walz only turned 60 on April 6th.

  7. There are ominous signs that Kamala Harris’ Blue Wall is collapsing
    The Telegraph
Something strange is popping up in Democratic advertisements across the “Blue Wall” states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. In those must-win states for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, the party’s Senate candidates are distancing themselves from the national ticket. The Senate ads now include some explicit pro-Trump messages and seldom mention Harris. They never mention Joe Biden.

The ads don’t just say that the candidates’ positions match Trump’s, such as “I favour fracking” (in Pennsylvania, where it is a major economic sector). They don’t just avoid mentioning Harris’ previous positions, which are far too progressive for their states. Instead, they openly use Donald Trump’s name in positive terms and say they side with him on particular issues, such as energy production or tariffs.

Take a current ad for Pennsylvania’s incumbent Senator Bob Casey, who is facing a tight race in a state where Trump has pulled even and is gaining momentum. The Casey ad includes a banner saying “Casey Supports Trump’s Trade Order”. That explicit, positive link to Trump is new for Democrats. It is not good news for the Harris campaign. -- nordy

  8. As of noon, back home and glad of it. Not thar there were any problems to speak of, but I tended to experience low-level stress about being on time and getting enough sleep. Next year is in 'England, so I'll be attending virtually.
