{listener} Last night I had a dream that I was in a large public place, like a mall or an airport, and suddenly people were grouping around a large television which was broadcasting some news. They all seemed so happy, animated, excited. Then I heard them exclaiming their joy that DT had been defeated. May that dream soon become reality!
So, Kamala Harris is about to have a Town Hall in a room full of undecided voters. If anyone is undecided at this point, they have no moral compass. I could almost wish there were a basic citizenship test one needs to pass before they're allowed to vote.
Harris is doing extremely well in this Town Hall. Are you all watching it too? She's taking questions and mostly answering them, But just hearing her speak in full and complex sentences with intelligence much knowledge of the issues is such a relief. C'mon America!
Atlantic: Trump's depravity will not cost him this election Tom Nichols For millions of the GOP faithful, however, Trump’s daily attempts to breach new frontiers of hideousness are not offensive but reassuring. They want Trump to be awful—precisely because the people they view as their political foes will be so appalled if he wins. Some Trump voters may believe his lies. But plenty more want Trump to be terrifying and stomach-turning so that reelecting him will be a fully realized act of social revenge. Harris cannot propose any policy, offer any benefit, or adopt any position that competes with that feeling. -- nordy
Not being well acquainted with Mr. Nichols, I read his Wikipedia article. He seems to be something of an odd bird, and not to have a lot of bona fides in American politics. -----Alan
Machinists have voted to reject Boeing's most recent offer to settle their strike. Meanwhile Boeing just posted a $6 billion loss. The machinists are holding out for return of the pension plan they bargained away in 2014, and most say they won't settle without it. Meanwhile Boeing draws closer to what I think is likely unless it can get operations up again--bankruptcy. If the machinists want to stay out for the pension, they will be out for a very long time. -- nordy
One thing rarely mentioned in the popular press is that if a struck company is going to formally claim that they cannot afford something their workers demand, they must open their books to the union(s) to prove it. ------Alan

Technically, assisted living means help with bathing and dressing. Has Trump had that help?
DeleteYou don't honestly think he chooses his own suits, do you?
DeleteI thought the ad was clever, if not exactly savage. -- nordy

I'd approve of that. Also applied to candidates for public office.

I haven't been watching the town hall, but what you describe is precisely what I should expect.

If depravity doesn't do it, how about incompetence?
