  1. Anders Puck Nielsen video: Russia's war economy is unsustainable [Click] Seems perfectly obvious to me, but evidently it isn’t obvious to a lot of talking heads and other nincompoops.

  3. Inside Russia video [Click] The initial story certainly does seem to imply that the Russian banking system is on the verge of implosion.

  5. Jake Broe videoAll sort of things related to Ukraine war. [Click] Good satellite photos of destroyed Russian ammunition depots, President Zelensky’s visit to the US, etc. etc. I was particularly moved by the thank-you artwork from Ukrainian children posted at the Pennsylvania 155mm artillery shells plant.

  6. Vermont elementary school children mistakenly eat THC gummies

Hmmm, in addition to actually "sweeping" the grounds before children arrive, parents might discuss not only cannabis but the wisdom of not eating candy you find lying on the ground...!

  7. I sure wish this would stop happening.
Guardian: Missouri executed a man on death row on Tuesday, despite objections from prosecutors who sought to have his conviction overturned and have supported his claims of innocence.

Marcellus “Khaliifah” Williams, 55, was killed by lethal injection, ending a legal battle that has sparked widespread outrage as the office that originally tried the case suggested he was wrongfully convicted. -- nordy

    1. I'm not convinced that the death penalty is inappropriate in all cases, but saying "Oops, sorry about that" after the fact is both not enough and too late; there is always some chance of a mistake. Life in prison without the possibility of parole is also an extreme punishment.

    2. Illinois abolished the death penalty after more people had left death row by being proven innocent than had actually been executed.

  8. On another note altogether, I was reading the Wikipedia article about the CSS Hunley a little while ago. [Click] Recent discoveries indicate that the crew members died at their stations from the shock of the mine [torpedo] blast. I hadn’t realized the size of the hole it blew in the hull of the USS Housatonic.
