    1. Nothing succeeds like success! You're off to a really good start, I'd say. [grin]

  2. FUN FACT (and good idear for the future as needed!)...
The first Constitution of Vermont was drafted in July 1777, almost five months after Vermont declared itself an independent country, now frequently called the Vermont Republic. It was in effect until its extensive revision in 1786.

  3. Reflecting on Bernie hunting me down and popping up on YouTube to hit me up for more money just as I was about to watch a watercolor tutorial, I am reminded of the Bloom County comic strip where Opus is watching late night TV when a commercial comes on for salad shooters (demonstration, on sale, buy five get one free, they're going fast, representatives waiting to take your orders, call 1-800-XXX-YYYY etc.). Opus runs to the phone, dials frantically as the phone number is repeated, and places an order for an insane number of salad shooters.

    2. I tried to find the comic strip online, but alas, had no luck.

    3. I just found this reference:

"In the comic section of our Sunday paper, my favorite section, Opus once ordered two thousand nine hundred and sixty two Salad Shooters from Ronco."

  4. LA Times: Selection of new California laws in 2020 [Click] Here are my selections of the selections (with abbreviated descriptions). All in all, sounds pretty good IMO.

Standardized MD form for vaccine exemptions—more than five and the MD will be investigated.
People with income will be required to have health insurance.
Charter school teachers will have to have teaching certificates.
Kids can’t be denied school lunch for lack of payment.
No school suspensions for disciplinary problems through 8th grade.
More restrictions on classification of “independent contractors.”
Minimum wage increased by a dollar an hour, on the way to $15/hr.
Employers can’t require arbitration of employees. (CofC fighting it)
Payday loan interest limited (still sounds like usury to me).
    Limits on rent increases.
    Easier to build granny flats.
Law enforcement officers can use deadly force only when it’s “necessary in defense of human life.”
No more contracts to use private, for-profit prisons.
New oil wells can’t run pipelines across state-owned land.
Political text messages must say who paid for them.
Voter registration at polling places on election day.

    1. Re no new pipelines across state-owned land: If I am not mistaken, that includes beaches up to the mean high tide line.

    2. I’m so glad kids can’t be denied lunch!

    3. They can't be treated differently than other kids, either--no obvious sign that they are getting free meals.

  5. The paranoid fantasy behind Brexit [Click] “In the dark imagination of English reactionaries, Britain is always a defeated nation – and the EU is the imaginary invader.”

Wow. A long read, but it goes far to explain what has happened and is happening in the UK.
