  1. Now that is funny. No wonder other nationalities say English is so hard to learn.

    1. Well, it’s a mishmash of French, German and others, and “queue” is French.

  2. Wow, it gets pretty bleak around here without Alan’s daily links, huh?

How about we all post a couple of links we noticed today, or tell a story from the day?

  3. First, two moments in my day:

    (1) I spent hours sewing quilting stitches! Whoo hoo!!

    (2) As the day unfolded I discovered more and more how eventful a day August 9th really is...! Get this:

1969: 50 years ago today Wil’s brother and sister-in-law married. The day before, the famed Abbey Road photo was taken. Also, Charles Manson murders were taking place on the 8th and 9th.

1987: Wil’s Dad died after a brief illness (brain cancer).

2000: Our late grandniece, Jillian, was born.

2001: My mother died unexpectedly (heart attack).

An auspicious date, to be sure.

I don’t like there being so many power and data glitches around the world lately. I always come away feeling like it’s the Russians practicing up for some world coup.
