Cobblestone Street in Charlestown, MA

  1. I remember brick streets in San Francisco; I think they have all since been paved over with macadam. I have vague recollections of bits of brick streets elsewhere in California, but can't remember where.

    1. Not streets, but many of Oak Park's alleys and its downtown sidewalks are brick. With just enough space between the bricks to let rainwater reach the ground. That's relatively new.

Thanks for holding down the fort!

  3. I can't honestly say that it was my pleasure, considering the general subject, but you are welcome. It was mildly therapeutic for me.

    1. Yeah, I can understand that. At least it’s shared sorrow here. You all maybe don’t know what a comfort you are...that there is a steady, sane, reliable group of like hearted people willing to listen and converse. I am grateful for each of you.

  4. As we were taking a walk this morning, we saw a well developed ring around the sun[unimaginatively called a “22-degree halo”]. [Click] I’m not at all sure I had seen one before. Being unfamiliar with the phenomenon, I didn’t know to look for sun dogs. [Click]

  5. All the sun dogs I've ever seen in person have been here.

  7. On Monday, Mizzen & Spinnaker had their vet check up and rabies shots. Both, age 7, were again deemed in excellent health! Yay!!
About 5 hours later, though, poor Spinnaker barfed up every thing in her stomach, for about an hour. 😿 She has never reacted to the shot before. Does anyone know if the rabies vaccine has recently been changed?

  8. Sounds to me like a case of the "post hoc, propter hoc" fallacy. I have barfed a good many times, but never after having a rabies vaccination [grin].
