Brilliance

  1. Has anyone else noticed that hacking has become a little too systematic this past year? We keep hearing about grids going down and cyber attacks. Makes me wonder what they’re practicing up for.

    1. Can't say that I've noticed that. Although I can't access the article without creating an account, so I'm not entirely clear what you mean by "systematic." I assume all the Texas towns were using the same software, so it would be natural for the hacker to attack them all once she/he had developed the malware. That's nothing particularly new.

    2. Bill, it seems every month we hear of another system that was hacked, from computers to grids. It's happening far more than it used to, and it concerns me that something really big is being practiced for.

    3. I don't see it as more common at all. Five or ten years ago there was a constant drumroll of viruses, trojans, etc., etc. It seemed like everybody worth hacking was getting hacked. There are still smartass geniuses finding vulnerabilities they can exploit, but it pretty much seems to me successful hacks are less common now than they were then.

And, of course, pretty much every hack is a different person, so I'm not sure where practice come in.

  2. As a person of faith, I am extremely offended by these assertions. These delusions of grandeur concern me greatly.

    1. And it is said that many of his evangelical supporters compare him to one of the Persian emperors who supposedly protected the Israelites, and Pompeo compares him to Esther, who spoke up to one or another of the Persian emperors. Pretty odd religions, it seems to me. O, for the days when many Republicans were Mammonolators. Come to think of it, when DT was young, his parents took him to the church of one of the famous preachers of the prosperity gospel, which could explain some things-- though not as many as could senility. I sympathize with you, listener; being confronted with heresies every day must take a toll.

  3. Today was a landmark day in my life! Our eldest grandchild became a TEEN! WOW!!

And our second grandchild, nearly 12, had trick horse riding lessons that included standing on a walking horse, changing from sitting forward to sitting backward and back again, turning upside-down while riding, side to side of the horse, touching her foot down off the side of the horse and getting back up again, all while riding!!

Then our son (her dad, who doesn't typically ride a horse) learned some of them too!

I feel old and anything but agile. LOL!!

    1. Old?? Come on. If my son had chosen to reproduce I could have had adult grandchildren by now. But yes, I'm afraid the agility is going.

  4. Watercolor class today, the second day of work on our first project. Toward the end of the class I walked around to see how others were doing, and it seems I was better than most. (I went looking for pointers on YouTube last night, and found them. It helped me to repair the work I did on Monday.) I'm making plenty of mistakes, but learning from them. WOOT!

  5. Pulled weeds and pruned this and that this evening; filled all three big wheely trash cans for pickup tomorrow. Weather has been cooler the past three days.
