The article seems to imply that at some point in her life Warren claimed "Native American" as her racial identity. If she did, that's wrong. But to someone who understands genetics, the main point is that the media misinterpreted the data from 123&me. Otherwise, so what?
but my grandfather Shikelamy turned out to be French, And perhaps the woman he married from the Cayuga tribe was also a European captured in childhood, because 23 ^ me says my DNA has no trace of Native American. . . . So even with names, dates, tribes and being able to trace yourself back, no guarantees, eh?
Ancient graffiti can be most informative. I remember some years ago archeologists were excavating underground somewhere near the Vatican, I think it was about where tradition had it that St. Peter was interred. They found a small crypt (I guess that's what one would call it--nothing grand at all and among others in an old catacomb I think), and a graffitum scratched into it: "Hic Petrus." (Here Peter.) I thought it was also interesting about the remains of autumnal fruits being found in the Pompeii also--I don't recall hearing that before.
