  1. Well, here are a few items to get the ball rolling:

Trump’s Legal Team Objects to Obstruction Questions [Click] That’s OK, we have his Twitter feed. He could be asked about the price of beans and spill them; he can’t control himself.

    1. I'm loving that article about Netroots saying that a Democratic Socialist could beat DT. I'm pretty sure one could have beaten him last time! I'm pretty sure there was a time in 2003 when a Democratic Socialist was in first place. If we could get the backbiting and money out of politics, this would be a far better nation.

    2. C'mon Ohio, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Washington!!

I too am watching returns with great interest. The Ohio House seat is possible, but the tally is narrowing.

Vermont's Primary is next Tuesday. Yesterday I stopped at the local post office to mail a package and who should arrive with me but Jessica, our Town Clerk. She asked me to help count the vote, so I'll be working at the polls 6:30pm to about 8:30pm...which works out perfectly for me!

    3. I rather liked that column myself, listener. I'm all in favor of the renovation of the Democratic Party, and these young folks look likely to be able to do it. Social Democrats, Democratic Socialists, Socialists in the pre-Marxian sense of people working to ameliorate the adverse consequences of capitalism, New Dealers--they're all good IMO. I think the Republican Party is probably beyond salvation, and on its way to the political graveyard.

P.S.: Visibility still about two miles here. In a little while we will pice the remainder of our peaches.

    4. We will PICK the remainder of our peaches shortly...

And in addition to the young folks, I have great hopes for all them uppity wimmin this year!

  2. Trump Goes From Threatening Iran to Threatening the World [Click] Pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal could backfire? The United States isn’t the dictator of the world? Who could possibly have guessed? Just like with North Korea, Trump makes a political own-goal.

And now to get moving and do a bit of light yard work. I now have a reference point for visibility; a line of power line pylons on the other side of the river is 1.5 miles away, and I can see a little farther—so visibility is two or maybe three miles at the moment. It has been worse, but is not good.

Here is a local editorial cartoon about the smoke; [Click] too bad it isn’t full-size. The dog is SO cute! But the small size makes it less evident. For some reason the local paper doesn’t show it on their web page. Oh, just scroll down a bit from here, and there is a larger version[Click]

    1. I heard on the news tonight that smoke from California has reached New York. I'll have to find a map that shows what part of New York!

    2. California gets air pollution from China, and Florida gets dust from North Africa. I'd be more than happy to share our smoke if it could be directed to Trump Tower...

Are Rene and Demetrius in OH-12? Or Susan?

  5. Looks like OH-12 will be a squeaker--probably will come down to the provisional and overseas ballots, and maybe even an automatic recount after that. Then it's a do-over in the general election.

  7. KS-3 Candidates backgrounder [Click] Brent Welder has a good lead with 19% reporting. With 79% reporting Laura Kelly looks like the proscriptive Democratic nominee for Governor; on the GOP side, Cloyer and Kobach are neck and neck.
