David Brooks is psychotic. [Click] I suppose this is an example of the GOP in chicken-with-its-head-cut-off mode. Nearly every idea expressed or clearly implied is unrealistic; he doesn’t know what has happened. And he clearly has not considered the example of the Whig Party.
I voted. Straight Democratic except for three (unopposed) judges who had been rated "unqualified" by at least one bar association. And, of course, the judicial retention questions ("Shall Judge XX be retained") that represent the overwhelming majority of the ballot are nonpartisan.
I was a bit surprised to see a Township referendum calling for repeal of the US Constitution's 2nd Amendment. After a moment's thought, I voted Yes. But I hadn't followed to arguments about a bond issue to allow the local high school to build a new swimming pool, and had seen yard signs on both sides of the issue, so I didn't vote on that.
Voted last week. Looked for any Mountain Party nominees that I could vote for, but there weren't any. No one ran for county surveyor. Sheriff is going to be a Dem (unopposed).
Curiously, I felt very good about voting FOR Hillary. This election made me do a lot more studying than I had (she was not on my radar at all in 08).

We have poll watchers for the first time. One is writing down the names of all the people who vote so he can check it against his candidate's supporters list and call those who haven't voted yet. I find that rather creepy. We have a sheriff on hand making sure the watchers do not enter the voting area. Am I still in Vermont? This is a very different sort of election. So far I have opened hundreds of absentee ballots and fed them into the machine. (1466 so far in our town of just under 5000 voters. Our post office folks keep bringing by new ballots as they come in (they are the BEST!). Just came home for something...back to the polls now to begin tallying the write-in votes.
Hang in there, America! It's looking good from my town!!

Robert Reich says not to worry; Clinton will win. That's not altogether comforting, but certainly a good deal better than the alternative.
Hoping now that Stein and Baraka get 5%, since this will guarantee the green Party nationwide ballot access next time. I am very disappointed that she is struggling so. I really thought she would be a major factor. But I gather the fear of Trump and the prolonged campaign cut into her base. Pity. Well, Clinton wins we'll have plenty of time to build a firmer Green base. If she doesn't, I guess it won;t matter since we'll all be murdered in our beds by ravening miliciamen.
Nationwide?? That's not how it works. It's state by state. If Stein gets 5% *in Illinois*, then for the next four years the Illinois Green Party must hold a primary whose winner is automatically on the ballot.
I expect I am the only one here who voted for Gloria La Riva, but I voted for the Green candidates in the previous two presidential elections--McKinney and Stein.

The DNC, the media and the polls have all screwed us miserably. I feel like turning off the TV and radio for the next four years and just focusing on my grandchildren and my art. {I hope you won't take it personally if I disappear, because YOU are what's right with America.} I am only going to be able to sleep at night because I worked for and wrote in Bernie Sanders. And before anyone berates me and blames me for a Trump win, remember that Vermont went to Clinton despite my best efforts. So I didn't harm the crowned one's chances. But oh my heart I wish the DNC hadn't crowned her before Bernie joined the race. Bernie would have won tonight.
Midnight here, and to my surprise the presidential race is still a nail-biter. I'm less surprised control of the Senate is still up for grabs, although Democrats must win two of three races, one of which is currently not looking good and the other two are essentially tied.
Unexpectedly, the Yi Jing was the sole predictor that got it right (in my life) with something approximating Something Wicked This Way Comes. . . .
And no, I don't think Bernie would have carried it either. Those numbers represent a group that's terrified of losing it's privilege, and is wanting to kick the walls down, (or a small boy in a wheel chair, or a man carrying a sign), I'm not seeing Bernie's appeal to them.
I know people who are Trump supporters who would have preferred Bernie. There are people who just will never vote for a Clinton, but could have swallowed voting for an Independent. I think there would have been just enough people who did not want Trump who would have voted for Bernie to turn the tide. We have never had so many write-in votes for President as we saw today. We had everyone from Jimmy Carter to Sarah Palin to Mickey Mouse to Jo Biden to John McCain. People are just so frustrated.
I agree with listener. With the added point that many Trump supporters just wanted to kick out the *&*W$%! establishment. Bernie would have given them an alternative choice. Of course, this alternative history is a matter of fiction, and we can never know how it would have played out.

In 2012, we had 88%
It took us 2 hours to sort all the write-in votes. Then two more hours to record them. My brain is now full.
