Trump v Clinton is ugly, but it’s not the dirtiest US election ever [Click]--Alan
I would say this election is the dirtiest in living memory. But I was aware of just how very bad things were in much of the 19th century, when most voters were dependent on local newspapers that made no pretense of objectivity. I hadn't heard just how bad things were in the Adams-Jefferson context.
Know Nothings indeed, lol!
For me, the point of no return, was the bit about him having to ask three times in half an hour WHY we couldn't use nukes?
I grant that that isn't quite as bad as HRC threatening Iran with nuclear warfare when she was Secretary of State. Muscular foreign policy and all that.Alan
BIG OOPS--"I grant that that isn't quite as bad as HRC threatening Iran with nuclear warfare when she was Secretary of State. Muscular foreign policy and all that." SHOULD READ "I grant that that is somewhat worse than HRC threatening Iran with nuclear warfare when she was Secretary of State. Muscular foreign policy and all that."Time for another cuppa.....Alan
It's worse here in Ohio where the favored network is FOX. Although when I had to have a tire replaced this week the company that had FOX on the tube the last time I was there now had sports.
Oh, that was supposed to be in reply to "CNN is the New Smoking".
I gave up on CNN years ago. But Fox is much worse. As to there always having to be a television on in every public space blaring the so called news, I don't understand it. As far as I'm concerned all the practice does is waste electricity and make sure the blood pressure of every person within earshot is through the roof.

Rank Choice Voting, what we know as Instant Runoff Voting.Disclaimer: Courtesy of Jill Stein's web sitehttp://www.rankedchoicevote.com/ - Click
I must say that we have a pretty rank choice to vote for this year...[he ducks].RCV is quick and easy with computerized tabulation, and it gives most every voter some feeling of participating in the election of the winner. I wonder if it can be done practically without computers...Alan
Worldcon Site Selection is done by RCV without computers because the bidders simply refuse to trust anything except paper they can see themselves. But we're talking probably about 1500 votes.
FiveThirtyEightDemocrats are up 6 percentage points among early voters.
That's encouraging.I just got off the phone with a friend in the Boston area who said that though she voted for Clinton, most of the people she knows - she mentioned six or eight - have voted or firmly plan to vote for Trump. This includes several women. From what Corine says, one could extrapolate that Trump is ahead in early voting in metropolitan Boston, which is depressing!
The latest poll in NY has Zephyr down 6 points. :-(Still driving home from Maine. Just crossed into VT.
This I DO know, that on Wednesday, there's a tiny little 92 year old lady in a small Village in Scotland who's gonna be doing the happy dance! Her name is Molly Forbes, the village is Balmedie, and she's been toting water by hand from a stream near her house since a worker on der turnip's golf course broke her water line, and he's refused to fix it.http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/10/26/meet-a-92-year-old-woman-whose-life-was-ruined-by-donald-trump.html
Wonder if a GoFundMe campaign would be appropriate.Alan
Made it home safely. We had a couple of near accidents due to human error (like the bozo who decided to buzz by us doing 90 as Mah*Sweetie began to pass a tractor trailer truck. Bozo had no clue that he was going too fast for a driver, who was glancing in the mirror several times, to see him in time. Glad to say everybody survived...though it's a darn good thing Mah*Sweetie has a strong heart!
Generally speaking, I don't mind people improving the gene pool--but taking others with them in the process I do NOT approve of. Glad you both made it OK, listener.Alan
