All Souls Night

ALL SOULS NIGHT

Bonfires dot the rolling hillside
Figures dance around and around
To drums that pulse out echoes of darkness
Moving to the pagan sound.

Somewhere in a hidden memory
Images float before my eyes
Of fragrant nights of straw and of bonfires
And dancing till the next sunrise.

I can see the lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All... All Souls Night.

Figures of cornstalks bend in the shadows
Held up tall as the flames leap high
The green knight holds the holly bush
To mark where the old year passes by.

I can see lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All... All Souls Night.

Bonfires dot the rolling hillsides
Figures dance around and around
To drums that pulse out echoes of darkness
And moving to the pagan sound.

Standing on the bridge that crosses
The river that runs out to the sea
The wind is full of a thousand voices
They pass by the bridge and me.

I can see lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All.. All Souls Night.

    1. And that would be lovely if Hillary, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Donna Brazile didn't use their "womanhood" as a shield against being questioned about their wrong-doing. Being female doesn't mean it's okay if you cheat and lie, and if people call you on it they're calling you on it BECAUSE YOU CHEATED AND LIED, not because of your genitalia. Did you hear Donna Brazile when the reporter refused to accept her non-answer and continued asking her the question SHE HAD NOT ANSWERED. Her response? "Now you're just badgering a woman." Excuse me, but BULLSHIRT.

I would gladly work for an honest woman, but not these scags and they're going to make us miserable if Hillary wins. I voted for Jill and I'm glad I did.

    2. 1) My Democratic Party died long ago. The response Bernie had gives me some hope that something similar might come along before I croak, although I won't be holding my breath waiting for it.

      2) I voted for Gloria La Riva--let anyone try to tar me as an ethnocentric or misogynist for that, eh? I do look forward to seeing how much company I have.

    2. Hmmmmm. I do not like the sound of that, puddle. Any chance you could visit a chiropractor? The neck may be contributing to the tummy issue. I want to hear more about the tummy issue, though. Anything related to your previous esophageal difficulties?

  4. BTW, did anyone happen to notice that the Cubs won the World Series for the first time in 109 years? I guess I'm the only one that hears the fireworks.

  6. Ah, Bill, we watched the second half of the last game. Had to. My dearest friend in all the world is a lifelong Cub fan and was breathless and needed a little company. Mind you, she's in NW PA and I'm in NW VT. But we were together nonetheless. I am so grateful for her sake that they won! Having been born in Boston and grown up all over New England, I comprehend the Amazing Relief that leaps to Joy that she is experiencing. I'm just sorry that in all sports events someone has to lose. The two teams were very evenly matched. I was thinking as they began the 10th inning that they should have just declared them all winners, given each of them a baseball and sent them home. Ha!
